The Chess Masters: Roleplay

It was sunset at the colossal arena that seated hundreds of thousands of audience members eager to watch the tournament that would make champions into legend. The lights from the stadium could be seen for miles as the crowed roared in excitement. The crowed were very multiracial, with all of them comprising of Equestrian, Zebra, Griffon and many others, even Ryborian. Some held signs to support their favorite teams for the competition, some even had merchendice of their favorite team and team members. There were, of course, fan mares screaming in delight at their favorite champion.

All of a sudden, the lights flashed in different colors while some electronic dubstep like music played as the crowed roared louder and the electricity of the atmosphere in the air was enough to spark lightning. Two ponies, one of them a middle aged Earth pony stallion wearing a red top-hat while the other pony was a pegasus mare who had a beautiful yellow mane and a blue coat. She wore blue over her coat and wore a beret. They were both known as 'Red' and 'Blue'. The crowd screamed in delight as they began to speak into the microphone.

"Hello and welcome to the first tournament of Everypony, where champions are crowed and the strongest will prevail." Red began to speak, in a voice that sounded much younger than what he physically liked. "Our teams range from different universes and have come to show off their skills, their talents and their dreams to become the best of the best. Blue, what do you think of our teams this year?"

"We have seen some serious competition this year, one of the teams to beat this year seem to be Team Starlight led by Chess-master Crimson Lionheart. He is boasting an impressive team of his very strongest. Almost the entire team is boasting super impressive scores of over 30, with the strongest belonging to Midnight Dawn." Blue spoke in a young energetic voice as the crowd cheered. "Team Starlight is not only super impressive, but they will face some serious competition as well. Will they prevail?"

"That's up to them Blue. Our teams will be entering the arena shortly to show themselves to the world. Whoever wins this year will not only become the first ever champions, but they are granted a wish of anything they choose." Red spoke again. "Mares and Gentlecolts, boys and girls. Welcome to the first Everypony tournament!"

The crowd screamed again, this time was much louder. They applauded in delight as they cheered the tournament, and it was going to be an amazing tournament for eveypony involved.

(Red and Blue can be controlled by anybody. You can control them to give yourself praze like above like real commentators

 

"So, Blue? How will our teams be going about this competition?" Red said as the volume of the cheering grew quieter to listen to the rules. Blue then gave another of her smiles for the cameras as she began to speak.

"The rules are simple Red. Every contestant will be randomly teleported across our battlefields, a 100x100 mile wide environment that hosts many different terrains. From scorching deserts and Blistering cold arctic snow to volcanic lava and tropical islands and even an urban environment that hosts derelict buildings, this playground will be host to our competition. At the very end of our environment is an enormous mountain which has an impressive light beam which is actually a teleporter to our stadium. These enviroments can give the edge to some and can hinder others. All our contestants need to do is make it to the top of the mountain where they will await their final challenges. The environment has boundaries to keep them on track to their destination, blue indestructible force-fields which are invisible to the eye except when you are close to them prevent the competitor from accidentally leaving the map."

"That sounds so simple Blue. There is a downside however, statistics say that out of our 100 competitors in the amateur league, only five have made it to the mountain alive. Now, ladies and gentlemen. They did not die in real life, they died or were 'eliminated' in the competition thanks to pre-competition preparations. When a competitor 'dies', they are teleported to a room where they cannot join back into the fight. Lucky for them, they can watch in luxury in an eight star penthouse."

"Eight stars! Looks like our competitors are getting treated in a luxurious royalty like rooms. If only we had that privledge..." Both of the commentators laughed along with the crowd as they then continued. "We will interview eliminated competitors as well, in the meantime, the teams are starting to arrive.And of course, those arriving late will be teleported to locations to keep the competition fair, even if the team is suffering a numerical disadvantage. Teams already here will need to go downstairs to receive their special spell. Without that spell, they would die and there will be no respawns for them. So, relax and enjoy the show folks. More will be coming soon."

 

"Our next team has been called many things, and powerful is almost an understatement to these guys. The team we are talking about is Team Starlight, led by the one and only Crimson Lionheart. Not only is this team hoofpicked by Princess Celestia and Prince Dawn themselves, but they are known as one of the most dangerous underdog's in the tournament. Consisting of two supersoliders in a timeline with a post-apocalyptic world, they are joined with a pegasus who's speed is absolutely ridiculous. To seal the deal, Prince Dawn and Eriborian Razona themselves are members of this team." Red spoke as the crowd cheered Red and Blue as they continued speaking.

Meanwhile, Team Starlight were preparing themselves in a small locker room. Crimson and Jackpot were putting on their suits of armor while equipping their newest weapons, energy rifles that required no ammunition at all. How they achieved this was considered top secret, but the rifles themselves were incredibly lethal. Ocean was equipping only throwing knives and daggers with super light leather armor. The other members of royalty, already prepared, spoke to each other about their chances.

"Heard we are facing The Night Guards, Silver will be a problem." Venquis spoke, standing next to Midnight. "Not to mention Jack in the Beasts. This year is going to be difficult, very difficult. And i love that thought of getting stronger through this, it's a valuable experience i wish the cherish."

"Our opponents are problematic, but mother entrusted us for a reason. She knew what we were facing and she believe that this is the perfect way to practice our skills. Others have merely come here for the reward or their own personal glory, i came to respect my family. Mother insisted that we should gather together and attempt to win this." Midnight replied back before looking at the two soliders across the room, clearly not from his timeline. He did recognize instantly, that one of the ponies was Crimson. "What are both of you here for?"

Jackpot's eyes looked up at Midnight to reply back. "Same reason as the Ryborian. We wish to become stronger,and the reward at the end can be our best chance to returning the world in our timeline back to normal. It's nothing but barren wastelands were raiders murder innocents and slavery is rampant."

"Then we are in for a good fight against our opponents then. Don't hold back, they certainly wont." Crimson added as he smiled at his fellow Eternal. "Remember the necklaces beside the door on the way out, it will keep a telepathic link between us."

 

Crimson looked at his team, they were clearly ready to take down anything in their path. Once they received the spell, they make final preperations before heading out to the main arena in front of the audience.

"Alright. Remember that this is a free-for-all, almost anything could count as the rules. Now, Venquis. Are you ready?"
"With Sihana as my witness, i will promice you a fight to remember."
"Alright. Jackpot, what about you?"
"Let their first shot count, they wont get a second."
"Excellent. Ocean, are you ready to live up to your name?"
"If they blink, they will be dead."
"Fantastic. Midnight....try to go easy on them"
"I'll try Crimson, but Plague might have other ideas..."
'Alright. Let's go win a tournament."

They then put the necklaces on their necks and headed out into the crowd. Where they received a thunderous applause followed by chanting. Venquis quietly seen a fangirl of his faint due to his appearance. He said nothing about it however, but laughed quietly at the thought.

"Introducing Team Starlight !!!" Red and Blue both cried out, further increasing the already static atmosphere in the crowd. Team Starlight waved to the crowd as the were cheered on.

 

Celestia replied back to her sisters and smiled.
"You might be surprised at Starlight. They are certainly no pushovers, and their power is astonishing. I assure you that they will be just fine." Celestia then levitated some food from the nearby table. She took the banana while she placed a box between their chairs. "Popcorn?"

"Team Heart, eh?" Crimson said studying their green armor, which he instantly recognized as a Trottingham team. He then looked at the Black uniforms that Starlight wore. Crimson and Jackpot both wearing their customized Project Eternal armor, in which was instantly recognizable due to bulletproof coat they wore over it. Venquis wore his own special Spell-Sword armor, which he skimpily tinted black to match the team colour. Ocean, who would still appear blue when flying at her crazy speeds, wore black lightweight armor that enchanced her agility. Last and not least, Midnight stood in the center wearing a black majestic suit of Royal Armor. In terms of appearance, it looked like belonged to a god rather than the Prince of Equestria. It was almost completely black, with the exception of the golden steel and a blood red cape that went down to his legs. Team Starlight might not win the competition, but they could be the best dressed.

 

Crimson nudged Midnight to notice the weaponry and armor that the other teams wore. He knew that the Night Guards were a threat in general with their training, extremely tough armor and their weaponry. The Hearts were dangerous as well, but the lack of armor that the Beasts wore amused them both. Then they looked at the weaponry and Armor the hearts wore. Crimson and Jackpot wore their armor and their dusters alongside the weapons, which were made up from their guns with enchanted ammo and their melee weapon and unarmed abilities and their centuries of combat experience. Alongside their augmentations, with one of them allowing Crimson and Jackpot to see in the dark, in super slow motion, and their unbelievable perception, they were extremely tough and would prove more than enough to their opponents. What Crimson had however, was his own blade, a black tinted blade forged from a fallen meteor known as Blackstar , which was indestructible.

Venquis, being a former Spell-Sword in his timeline and the last surviving member of the Ryborian royal family in Ardelan, had Moonsaber. In his timeline however, after receiving new powers from Sihana herself and an upgraded version of Moonsaber, he was more of a threat then before. Ocean only carried knives and her daggers, which she was a master in her hoofs.

Then, there was Midnight. The prince had only two royal swords, which he believed he would not use much. Being almost magic based with the exception of his martial arts training and some sword training would mean that Magic was critical to him. He then cracked his neck as Red and Blue began to speak again.

"Our Teams are ready to be teleported to their locations within the next three minutes. They will not be close to each other when they arrive, in fact there is a several mile difference in terms of location. Fights will be shown on our live screen here and will be live streamed onto any mobile device, so you are always with the action. Mares and Gentlecolts, your teams for this year!" Blue announced as the crowd went into a frenzy again.

 

Team Starlight looked at their opponents, some of them new, some of them old. What they all had in common was that they were very dangerous. Midnight knew that every individual in their representative teams would be split from each other, so it eliminates the possibility of a 'gang' attack. The strongest of these attacks from a singular group would come from The Night Guards. When acting as individuals, Starlight had the advantage followed closely by the Beasts. The wildcard entry of the Hearts would prove problematic to the competition in general, but it was nothing to be worried about at the moment.

Venquis drew out Moonsaber, to the audiences shock that it had lighting crackling around the blade. It looked reminiscent of Sihana's own blade, Yukobana. Her entry would be against the rules however, due to her status as a god. Perhaps if the tournament went well in it's first year, it could branch out. Even the God's might have their own tournament. As Venquis charged the weapon up with magic, the symbols lit up red instead of blue. This signalized that Moonsaber was no-longer an no ordinary sword, it was something different in general.

"Starlight. We have gathered for Celestia, let's not fail her. For the rising sun!" Crimson cried out as the rest of Starlight then performed a salute and headed towards the middle of the arena. Blue and Red then nodded as a wormhole then appeared in the center of the arena, where they would travel to the battlefields below. Starlight stood in front of the arena with their weapons drawn as they watched the countdown timer.

 

Starlight stood at the portal thinking of the instructions Celestia gave them before watching the timer count down to zero. The moment it happened, the crowd exploded into a frenzy as the competition officially began. The team walked in as they felt this strange sensation overcome them as they walked through. The next thing they knew, all they seen was a flash of white. When the light began to fade, the team was split from each-other in different locations. However, they wasted no time in traveling toward their destination. To preserve strength for the journey, Ocean decided to walk.

"Team Starlight is the first to enter. Here are your favorites displayed on this map for you to see. The competitors cannot see this, so their encounters will be a surprise. But you can get the best seat in the house and always know where your favorite competitors is." Red cried out as a jumbotron then flickered to life, showing the map and small anime like-heads of the competitors. Midnight was in a tundra, Ocean was stuck on a snowy mountain, Jackpot was near a beach of somesort and Venquis was near a volcano that spewed lava. These gave them their advantages and disadvantages as they made their way to the mountain.

Crimson however, found himself exactly where he wanted to be, an urban city like arena. This was not only a significant advantage to him, but he knew the style of layout extremely well. If an opponent were to attack him, he could simply pick them off with a sniper-rifle. Unfortunately, archers had the same idea of hiding. Magic would be problematic in this environment, giving a disadvantage and Physical suffered a worse outcome due to the locations and overall "distance" problem.

Crimson smiled at the thought as he climbed to the top of a bell-tower in the city's center and prepared for a long stay. "The rest of you go on ahead, I'll catch up. I think im the furthest away from the mountain, so I'll hold back and take any threats on. If nothing happens for the first day, I'll catch up. But i doubt it...." Crimson told the rest of his team through his necklace. While he experienced what could be his biggest advantage in the entire competition, he was also alone.
