"When should we strike?" he asked his comrade, Ella. "We should wait until nobody's watching." he suggested.
Ella was watching the target carefully through the scope of her rifle. "Well, we could do that, get away without a hitch." She zoomed in, taking mental notes on the commander. "Or, for added intimidation, we could strike him out in public. Say 'we're not afraid to take you down' to their higher ups." She zoomed out and looked around for any patrols moving about.
A group of soldiers, dressed in solid gold, glowing armor followed behind him. They formed a perfect row as they patrolled behind him. "C-Crap..." Percy mumbled. "We could lead them into an ambush in an alley, but they're enchanted with that holy aura. We'd be weakened, but I'm sure we could take those nine on."
"Alright, you can lead them into an alleyway something, but I'll need reposition if you do so I can get a clear shot on them." She looked up from her scope and around the rooftops surrounding the target. After surveying the rooftops, she shouldered her rifle and kept an eye on the golden patrol as she readied herself. "Your lead."
Percy removed the small cooler he kept on his back and removed a blood bag from inside. He drank all of it's contents, and put the cooler back onto his back. He grew taller and more muscular and his ears grew to long points. His fangs elongated and his skin turned black as night. Percy grew talons, claws, and two sets of leathery wings on his back. He hurled his tattered and ripped clothing aside and let out a loud shriek. He dove into an alleyway, creating a loud smashing sound on his way down, alerting the soldiers of his presence. The guards rushed over, and Percy let out another roar.
Ella dived down after Percy, levitating herself to slow down before hitting one of the rooftops. As she landed softly on a near by roof, she sprinted and jumped from roof to roof till she had a clear view of the alleyway. She quickly shouldered her rifle, took aim, and let loose several bullets into the patrol approaching the feral Percy.
Percy's rampage soon ended, but he luckily drank enough blood to keep fighting. He danced around the holy soldiers, spraying them with lead and wooden stakes. Although, soon, more hunters came. "We need to get moving. This was too risky." Percy said to Ella, using a walkie-talkie. "This wasn't supposed to turn into a war. Rose will be pissed off at us."
Ella picked off one more hostile before ducking into cover. "Alright, where are heading to? Usual meet-up point?" She ask as she peered up again, bashing a soldier against the the alley walls with her telekinesis.
"Yeah. I-" he stopped, as he darted up a fire escape. He watched as the last of his comrades were picked off, then continued. He met Ella at the meet up point, an old, abandoned high school. As soon as Percy burst through the doors , he dropped ti the ground and began to pant. "N-Need... A drink?" he offered, taking off the small cooler he kept on his back.
Ella was leaning up against the wall, holding her blood-stained handkerchief up to her nose with her head tilted back. "No, I'm good for right now." She tilted her back forward and took the rag away from her nose, sniffing a little to clear the sinuses. "So, I'm guessing mission failed then?"
"The rest of the group died 'cause of that. I'm afraid we did lose this one." he responded, plucking a change clothes from his cooler. "...And are ya sure? You look kinda... pale." Percy joked, grinning ear from ear. "Anyways, I'mma go change out of these shreds of jeans and head back to the House."
"Heheh, yeah..." she chuckled awkwardly, holding her handkerchief under a stream of water from a water fountain. "I'll pass still though, sorry. Still trying to get used to bring a vampire..." She rang out her handkerchief before stuffing it into her pocket. "I'll meet you there."
Percy nodded. "You'll get used to it after a year or so." he said, diving into an old classroom. After a fairly short period, the two met in Lady Rose, ruler of the House of the Crimson Fang's throne room. "What the hell are we gonna tell her?" he asked, whispering, and bowing to Lady Rose.
"...You two have failed me for the last time." the little girl said, after a moment of thought. "I'm demoting you two. You two are no longer captains of my army. Your badges, please." she demanded, holding out a hand. Percy walked forward, and handed over his badge.
Ella walked forward, reluctantly handing her badge over to Lady Rose. She shot a quick dirty look at Percy before snapping back to.
"I'm sorry." Percy mouthed, bowing again. "Now get out of my sight. You're lucky we don't execute you!" Lady Rose scolded, crushing the badges in her grip. "Get out. Now."
Percy sighed and opened Lady Rose's door. "It's all my fault!" he said, loud enough for Ella to hear. "I left our teammates to die, when I could have saved them! It's my fault. Don't punish her for my damn mistakes!"
Ella stopped, hearing Percy's protest. She slowly double backed leaned against the wall, listening to the argument between the two.
