Apparently, under the noses of everyone. There was legislation passed called the Cloud Act that blatantly allows the government to demand data on anyone, which completely impedes on privacy. This legislation got zero time in the sun as to avoid the American people opposing it and demolishing it before it had a chance to be passed. Now there is nothing stopping them from callously violating the fourth amendment.
