Deference is between enviable and expectation, just as you requested.
The definitions are there in case anyone was curious what the words meant.

Followed Directions-10/10

The difference between inevitable and expectations is super easy: inevitable means it will happen no matter what. Expectation means you expect it to happen, but it can easily still not happen.

What I was going with was how some people expect some so much they think it has to be inevitable. And if want they expect doesn't happen, good or bad, can have dramatic effect on them

My brain did a little thing where I read the title, thought it didn't make sense, and somehow immediately filled in the words "difference" and "inevitable", probably because those two were likely, context-appropriate substitutions. Still, I liked Ridley Wolf's post a lot.

I guess the difference between "inevitable" and "expectations" is the difference between what's going to happen no matter what, and what we either think is likely or want to happen. Expectations are perception-based, either following perceived probability or perceived desirability. However, I don't believe very many things are inevitable; one might even make the philosophical argument that nothing is inevitable, and that there are simply a few things which we have not yet found a way to avoid, which we actively choose not to avoid or which have only always happened since they were probable and we have yet to witness any instances to the contrary.
