The Fire In The Sky, a celebration for the new shape of the earth, forest and sea collide. Where there is endless seas, forest and trees cover a good majority of it. Equestria has been reunited five hundred years after "The End." The End was the end of all of the world, where it would die and no life left... but, there was one Alicorn willing to sacrifice everything he had to ensure the survival of the world. He transformed himself into a fertilizer seeding tree, the roots healing the nurturing the earth and all of Equestria. Most had died from Mother Natures wrath, but peace was once restored. Now, every year a celebration was made where any and all gathered and celebrated the day the planet was saved. (Here you go Eluuna)
Rosy sat under the tree outside her home. She munched quietly on an apple as the sun rose, marking the new day. She was excited for the celebration, although she had seen it for 21 years. However, she could never forget the first time her parents took her to the celebration, and she'd loved it ever since.
A rumble could be felt again near Rosy's position. Scavengers, the villages gatherer group that scavenge for supplies in old buildings... and really good demolition experts. That rumble marked another building that had collapsed, this happened normally when a building was not needed and needed to be stripped of the outer resources for newer houses. The houses that were apart of the villages were built into large trees, even into hills and underground, it was more natural to do so. These Scavengers were more brave then the old Wanderbolts in history classes, they did dangerous things everyday that marked them as Missing In Action during a Scavenge Run, just in case either were lost or killed. They would go into old buildings, collapsing and falling apart, and take any supplies from the large structures, using the supplies for the village. One of these Scavengers was Rusted Cog, or just Rust for short. He always worked during the celebrations that were thrown, having nothing to do with them. Sure, somepony saved them all from extinction, but that was five hundred years ago. Rust had just finished his run that had taken over night, and was headed home for a nice shower, a bite to eat, and some good rest. He had been known as the hard worker of the village, not taking any breaks what so ever, which made him a respected pony. He didn't care about status, he cared for progress.
Rosy stood up, and tucked her chestnut locks behind her ear. She peered out onto the lane by her home, and saw a pony she recognized as Rusted Cog, who was famous among her village. She watched the pony walk up the road, and noticed he looked exhausted.
As he walked down the path, Rusted Cog sighed in relief and exhaustion, still having the heavy line gear on. Most Scavengers were pretty famous for their work, mostly individually. For example, his brother Frozen Cog worked mostly during the winter and winterized environments, in fact, he was a Unicorn. Rust was an Earth Pony, which makes no sense, but, they were blood. The Cog Family had been in the village for generations, helping build the village and its defense, the elder of the family was part of the council. Rust cracked his neck a little, his body achy from working five months straight, little sleep, little food, anything just to keep him going for a ling time. He was not too keen on this years celebration, nor like any other year as well. Work was all he ever thought about, sure he spoke to people in the village, but he kept to himself most times.
Rust stopped for a moment, and then looked to the mare who spoke out to him, "Yes, do you need something?"
"N-no." she stammered, but she persevered. "I was just wondering if you were okay. You looked a little.. well... tired."
He laughed at the word tired, "Well, working with no sleep is something, isn't it?" He sighed, groaning a bit, "I don't stop woking unless told to do so, sometimes I will even sneak off to do so."
"I know. You're pretty well known around here." she said, gesturing to the town around her. "But today's a celebration!"
"Mm," BladeRunner began, looking up to the blue sky, "The Fire in the Sky Celebration, looks like I will be there this year, I guess."
"You don't care for it?" she asked curiously, pulling her hair back to gaze at him with eyes that matched the sky above her.
"I've never been involved with it, I have too much work on my mind as it is," He answered back honestly, looking at her with the pitch black eyes of blackness. He was weary of some of the ponies here, but he had not seen this one yet, "What is your name mare?" He asked gruffly.
"Me? Oh. My name is Rosy." she said, smiling. She shook her head suddenly, and looked sheepish. "I'm sorry, I'm probably keeping you from a well deserved nap."
"No apology needed," He said with a smile, and then continued down the path, but then stopped, "Oh, I forgot," He threw her a clean, freshly picked apple, which was thirteen miles from the Sweet Apple Acres, more like and apple jungle, "Its all yours," he said then continued walking.
It had been several hours (Yes a time skip), Rust was all washed up and readied for bed, the Celebration about to commence in five more hours, that was at midnight. Normally he always missed this great thing, why was it a thing? Celebrating the death of a planet was great enough, but celebrate a dead pony? He didn't know, nor did he care.
He got up, looking out the window and into the distance. His black eyes looking into the setting sun. Rust sighed, wandering about the celebration. In the canyon below, there were thousands of lights, meaning thousands of booths and ponies. He did not care for them though, he was only interested in seeing the lights all have spoke of.
Rosy tucked her hair back in a small ponytail, and left her house. As her eyes got accustomed to the darkness, she looked out, and smiled. It was almost time.
