I'm sorry, I have to say it...these guys are friggin' awesome! Snips & Snails have nothing on these guys. The song they did had me getting flashbacks of a classic Disney number! The characters are just such smooth oporators and when you think about it, they never even tried to con anyone. The machine merely malfunctioned and ruined the quality control. They weren't ever TRYING to ruin Sweet Apple Acres, but rather, modernize it so they would THRIVE BETTER. They're smart, witty, and darn it, I want to see more of them! I can't be the only one - C'mon, Everypony! "We've got an opportuni-ty in this ver-y communi-ty!"
I disagree, I dislike them. They want a quick way to make cider and make money. I feel like they really were trying run down the apples farm. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
The only aspect of then that appeals to me Is that they are the closest thing to Steampunk I've seen in the TV show. No, really. That was quite literally MLP Steampunk right there. Or, at least their device was. Sent from my iPod touch 4G using Tapatalk
Dude steampunk mlp would be awesome. I just didn't like the way they acted. Like the machine was the way of the future. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
I have a natural aversion of witty bussiness characters, so no, I didn't like them. Also, I'm all for the 'love and care' production of goods above mass-production. Their song was catchy, though.
I didn't like the song. I'm against musical numbers in general though, and the brothers were pretty cool. Not the nicest guys in Equestria, but they do have a certain charm. I don't think I'd like to see them again though; one episode was about enough for me. As for their machine, it wasn't really that steampunk, was it? There was an absence of steam and brass pipes, with boilers and pressure gauges and and all manner of shiny bits and bobs, buttons and knobs. Also airmans goggles and Zeppelins. I love steampunk.
Well, they are kind of win as characters are concerned and seem to represent the early industrial age. They are not really evil, they do rather serve as a business rival for the Apple family. Despite trying to run the Apples out of business, I can't say I fault the brothers for it. It is way too similiar to my own views on media distribution, the new digital distribution technology is here to stay and those who refuse to adapt deserve every consequence of their stubbornness. I hate to say this, but the Apple family will probably have to industrialize their farm at some point to meet the demands of the future. Quality over quantity is good but quality and quantity is better. As Rainbow Dash said: "Who cares how good the cider is if I don't get any?" Lets say that if I were my OC, I would like to have a word with the Flim Flam Brothers, their innovations would be of great use for Darkmoon Industries. Quite complex issues for a show about coloured ponies don't you think?
Channeling your inner reaver are we. I just didn't like the way they handles themselves at the end. They sacrificed quality for quantity. They never cared about helping the ponies of Ponyville. They just wanted the fastest dollar they could make. At the end they say "next town" So I'm guessing this has happened before.
Aw, c'mon now! You guys are too uptight. I don't think they wanted to run the apples out at all! They simply wanted to be the only suppliers of Cyder. They already declined their offer, how were they going to run a business if they DIDN'T compete? They didn't sacrifice for quantity either. They HAD quality control, it just broke and in order to win they had to take a gamble that the cyder might still be drinkable. While I agree they were a bit greedy, they were far from malicious. It saddens me no one seems to realize that EVEN WITH twilight and co. helping, they were still superior. I don't see why they couldn't have made the apples and them be partners in the end.
In all honesty, I think that in the long run, Ponyville would have been much better off with the Flim Flams' machine. It has quality control so it only makes the best cider, and it's much more efficient than the Apple family's method. The only reason the Apple family was able to win is because they had nine ponies all working their flanks off to make it. So yeah, they may have beaten the Cider Squeezy with its quality control on, but what's going to happen next year? Are they going to repeat this whole fiasco? No,next year it'll be back to the same old way, and some ponies (sorry, Rainbow Dash) are going to be turned away again. With the Flim Flam brothers' machine, everyone would get quality cider, it would be more efficient, and everyone would get their share. Honestly, I think the Apple family would have just been better off negotiating the profit split. The Flim Flam Brothers were pretty sleazy, but they gave what they promised. Their machine worked, and it worked well.
Yeah, one thing I like about the show is that antagonists are not always pure evil, they just have intrests that collide with another group, pretty realistic actually. I think the brothers may not be the nicest ponies in Equestria, but they did not really do anything wrong. The Apples should have cooperated with them, that was actually the ending I expected. I can't complain about the letter though, pure win.
The FlimFlam Brothers are the WRIGHT BROTHERS of MLP! They invent, NOT con! Heck, to even BUILD The 'CyderSqueezy they had to have FUNDING yes? I suspect they have clout in Canterlot. They might very well be successful in other towns. Just because the thing in Ponyville failed due to unforseen setbacks does not make them fraudes just because they propose to move onto the next town.
I like them. In fact they're my favourite antagonist in the show. I don't think that they originally meant to run the Apples out of business, they were just trying to make money like any other business ponies. Having said that, I am glad that they didn't take over and I don'tsee why they would reappear in future episodes.
Someone mentioned a disdain for musical numbers... Are you aware of what show you watch? Winter Wrap-up must have made you explode!
It's quite poetic, actually. The substitution of quantity for quality has plagued the human race since the industrial age. Look at any edible product you can find in your local grocery store. Then, look at anything your mother used to make. The store just can't compete with the homemade food, can it? Because the companies that make the products we consume have done the same thing the FlimFlam brothers were going to do with Sweet Apple Acres: in favor of productivity and profit, the brothers disabled their quality control device in order to produce more. The same thing happens in all fast food establishments. Pizza Hut used to make their dough on location. However, in order to increase profit, they started freezing and shipping pre-made dough. The pizza hasn't tasted the same since. McDonald's, too. They used to serve only hamburgers. Then they started freezing and shipping ingredients and the food doesn't taste as good as it used to. Perhaps I'm overanalyzing it, but I see a bit of a hidden message in that episode.
Guys. No. Stop. Please. With all this hate. The FlimFlam brothers were amazing and I'm getting their song on my iPod.
Personally, I hated them. And no, saying that they wern't total A-holes sounds like bullcrap after they kicked the apple family out of their home and LAUGHED AT THEM. The only way I'd want to see them appear again is if they get their ass's kicked, but both of those possibility's are unlikely. And yes, this is coming from someone who loves Gilda because of how much of a *squee!* she was. But you want to know something about her? At least she wasn't annoying like the FF bros are, which was another thing I hate about them.
What Flim & Flam showed me was not that the Apple family needed to change how they made their cider, but instead they should have changed their business model to get more satisfied customers. 1. Limit the sale of cider to one per customer until everyone has had one. There are enough customers to still sell out every day. 2. If you were in the front of the line at the end of the day and didn't get any, pass out numbers for the next day. Then those who were first at the end of the day will be first the next day. These two simple things would have appeased the entire community and then the brothers would not have even been listened to. And until the very end, it showed me that Pinkie is callous, greedy, and showed no empathy toward Rainbow Dash's feelings - at one point rubbing it in her face that she didn't get any cider. Yes, it was 'for the lulz', but Pinkie dropped down my list of likeable ponies for that. - Sent from my EVO 4G Shift using Tapatalk
