It's alright Ramza, I didn't even know any of this happened! Mostly due several factors of my own, from dealing with the tornado that ran over my house to the fact that at the time I mostly hung around the RP section.
The night guards were a very formidable force. They were all bat ponies, a rare breed that appeared around the time of Luna's return. However, not all the guards were the exact same, as one of them was about to find out. Nebula slowly flapped his way down to Luna, saluting her and saying quickly, "Greetings Commander Luna, the castle is clear at the moment!"
Luna turned to the guard and smiled brightly, the moon reflecting the light of her mane making it look exactly like the dark, starry sky above. The princess of the night had been more protective of herself lately, the guards for some reason have been acting... really REALLY strange lately. "Ah yes, Nebula, is it not a gorgeous night out?" Luna had asked in a clam and soothing tone.
Nebula stood at rigid attention. He was a new guard, having only just gotten to the guard a week ago. As such, he was very nervous and uptight around those around him. He smiled wand stared forward, not sure exactly how he should respond to that statement. His brian wracked for answers and he finally said slowly, "It is a very beautiful night, some of your best work, your majesty."
"Why thank you!" Luna chirped in a happy tone, "Hm, he should have arrived by now, what takes him so long?" Luna then asked herself a little out loud. She had been sending out a Lunar Knight for missions, for some reason though this knight had LOVED to fight, he loved adventuring, and hay, he wasn't even the least bit worried about anything serious happening. "Oh well, so a question might I ask, what were the other guards doing before you came here, loitering? Were they at their posts?" Luna asked persistently, a little stressed from whats been going on lately.
Nebula blinked and he rapidly imagine all the guard shifts and posts, trying to put them together in his mind and who went where. He said rather quickly, "The guards at posts 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 are at their position and working on a two hour shift, whilst I believe the other guards are either taking a well deserved five minute break or are hiding in the shadows to decrease their visibility, your majesty! I myself am taking this post right here, and I will not abandon the post lest I be dead!" He salutted hard.
Luna giggled lightly, she did find this one a little cute out for he others. He was shy, but friendly, and he seemed to be royal towards the princess rather than some post. Heavy hoof-steps could be heard from behind nearing the two ponies. Luna turned, seeing a large, blue armored figure standing several feet away. It took the shape of a pony, but nopony else could know what it truly was. "Ah, I see you decided to show yourself." Luna chirped happily, as if this thing were her friend? The figure chuckled, "Whats my next assignment?" It asked in a deep, male tone. "You are to investigate the badlands, something has come up there and some tribes are troubled. Will you take it?" Luna asked with a smirk on her face. "I suppose..." The Stallion began but trailed off as he saw the new guard, "Who's the small fry?" "This is Nebula, a new personal guard that have recently arrived here one week ago." Luna said looking to her guard.
Despite the fact that he was now thouroughly intimidated, Nebula remained at rigid attention to the two of them. He had his small sword attached to his belt, despite the fact that he'd have to pull it out with his mouth, as he was a bat pony. Still, he was ready to defend Luna at all costs and was still new enough that he wasn't relaxed towards his duty. "I am Nebula!" He said, still rigid, "It is my duty to protect Princess Luna at any and all costs, be it with my life or with my sword!" He saluted hard.
The figure couldn't help but laugh, "Encouraged little shrimp isn't he?" "Now, now, BladeRunner, play nice." Luna said with a smile. "I suppose I guess, I need to get going." It said walking away. "So no rest I suppose?" Luna said knowing this would happen. "Nah, I hate rest." And like that, the figure was gone. "I am terribly sorry Nebula, he is an old friend of mine, although we don;t get along every once in a blue moon. Besides, he's alway attending to various missions, whthere it would be taking out assassins or scouting the Everfree forest," Luna then turned to the Bat Pony, "Please walk with me." Luna began to walk down the hall.
"Yes, My Lady!" He walked beside her, still at rigid attention. The majority of the way he was speaking was actually quite formal. To him, this was honestly the greatest job he could ever accept. He was not only walking alongside the princess, yet she was trusting him. It was, to him, an incredible honor. He smiled widely, giggling.
"So Nebula, how are you doing this past year?" Luna asked while looking at the large pictures engraved into the glass as they walked.
"I have been doing fine, Princess Luna." He followed her with an eye still for caution, not letting himself relax, "I've been mainly attempting to learn about new forms of literature."
"Seems like it must take some progress, exactly what types of literature are you working on?" Luna asked, looking at nebula, but she saw the caution he was in. 'I must try to get to get him to relax.' She had thought looking back to the pictured glass until they passed them.
"Short story literature, madam." He continued to be rigid, stopping at the painting and looking at it, then at the stained glass windows around them, "They are very beautiful, princess. They truly capture the regality that you and the other princesses hold."
Luna smiled and glanced at him, "Thank you very much Nebula!" Luna chirped happily as she looked at the picture, remembering the past... most of the good at least, the bad she had to shake it off though as it would come back to her. "So, do you plan to make any stories with the literature?"
"I've been making a few, Princess Luna!" He said, trying to keep his voice down but finding it hard in his posture. It constricted his lungs and he needed to speak a little more loudly than he normally did. Looking at Luna, he smiled widely and he said, "I personally am trying to figure out the exact details of your personal history. It is a rather interesting one, I must say. Children novels fabricate so much, I want to set some of the records straight."
"Hm, so you want to get to know me a little better? You sure you wan to do that?" Luna said teasing a bit. She couldn't help but feel playful in a way. She was going to mess with Nebula's head no doubt, and she would do it her way only.
"Yes I would, my lady." A single bead of sweat rolled down his fur, signaling slight discomfort, "I-I've been unable to find many sources that aren't very bias... I'm currently trying to discover how you personally defeated the group of mages that tried to over throw Canterlot... and most of them either don't mention you or barely do."
"Hm... how long ago was this?" Luna asked confused at this notion. There were 'Minor' things that have been forgotten as the years had passed.
"Approximately one thousand, three hundred, twenty-one years ago, the actual day and date are lost to history." He said simply, still rigid and not allowing himself to relax. He wanted her to be impressed with him, which caused him to sweat even more.
