Earth Raiser was contacted directly by the mysterious treasure hunter. She sent him a message by letter this time. Dear Earth Raiser, I have found the location that is depicted on the scrolls. I found the pathway to an ancient underground temple that's hidden in the Badlands. However, before I could gain entry, I was chased off by Desert Coyotes. I've included a simple map to the location along the Western Wall of the Badlands Gorge. I wish you the best of luck, but I would not go without help. As usual, I will pay top bits for anything you find... but I have a feeling this is only a small piece to a much larger puzzle. ~Mutsu
"Huh, a simple quest for treasures, seems like the perfect way to waste my time." Opens and stares at the map for 20 minutes.......... "I can't read this... Simple map, why you lousy... I'm going to need to find a friend." Earth the seeks his old time friend and accomplice, Sprite, to solve the most difficult task of reading a map.
Seeing Earth in the distance, Serenity Sprite runs towards him. "Earth! It's been a while, what's that you've got with you? Is it a job offer of some sort?" She invites him in to sit and drink some cider with her in the nearby tavern
"Ain't got time for a job, it's a map from a contact. Problem is, ay can't read it." Walking towards the tavern, he passes the map to Sprite.
"Well, I know you're not the brightest bul- anyway, I should be able to read this" Sprite looks at the map and searches over it while chatting with Earth. "looks like it's in the badlands, are you sure you want to go alone?"
Squinting at Sprite, he takes back the map. "I think I can handle em, badlands isn't even as tough as my gardens. Although I don't have all the time in the world to slaughter them coyotes. I guess you can tag along to this underground temple." Looking into his dark void inventory, he notices something very devastating... "Dang it, I don't have any bits left for drinks. Let's go and get this treasure already!"
Sprite sighs and pays for the ciders, then starts walking out of the door. "well then lets go get some treasure! You will pay me back for those drinks however... Onward to the badlands!"
(As it turns out, all this was in my Auto-Save box. Thank goodness!) Over hillside and dale the group trecks onwards. Over the course of a few days and nights. *Dice Rolling Noises!* During their second day, they enter into the Badlands Gorge, where they come upon the settlers who were previously distraught over their lost mares, seemingly still distressed. One of them quickly recognizes Earth, (as they all would,) and trots over. "Excuse me, adventurer! I have received terrible news!" He goes into a low bow before the traveling duo. "Our stolen settlers have been set into slavery! What's worse, the coyotes intend to start eating them! Please, I beg of you to help us retrieve them! I wish that I had much to offer, but five bottles of my finest liquor, and a hundred bits are yours if you bring them back!"
Looking through the dull scenery of Badlands, Earth notices the settlers from before, and grimaces slightly. "Ah, whatever." And approaches them. "My friends you bow to no one... Wait... Finest liquor? Of course I'll help ya'll! Just tell us where those buggers are, and we'll deal with them." Earth looks at Sprite and raises an "eyebrow", riiiiight? "Do not worry, we will try to get them back as fast as possible."
"Yes we shall! Onward for booz- I mean, adventure! Now, where are these coyotes!" Earth runs up to the settler. "Oh wait, I remember now!" Then runs to the "direction" of the coyote base.
