http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/ask-thatguy/32441-episode-63 It is at the end, the last question, guess he might be a fan. As a fan of the Nostalgia Critic, I think this is awesome.
"I'd have to go with Twilight Sparkle" This man has his ponies in order I see Honestly, like everything else in this, I don't think his answer is supposed to make sense at all.
Yeah, he is unlikely to be a brony, if so FIM should have been in his list of top 20 tv shows. Ask that guy is not a serious show anyway, just think it was cool for him to mention the show. At the very least, he knows who Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle is.
He mentions it again in his Child's Play review. I think he said, "I have a My little pony doll that killed my family." It makes sense it context.
I think one of the reviewers mentions in the Ask That Guy comments in particualr tht yes, Doug is a fan, but that's alwasy questionable. There's no reason for him to really do so, but I wish he would come out with a video talkingabout his opinion of it-it's probably a middle of the fence opinion.
I dunno, it would kinda surprise me if Doug did like the show, I mean, he's critical as hell when it comes to cartoons, just heck out his Nickelodeon month reviews. XD
hmm hard to tell. I would say he isn't a brony, but perhaps has seen at least a couple episodes, or perhaps a friend of his is a brony or something, and something pony-related came up between the two. Would be awesome to have him as a brony!
Hmm... how close a friend is CR? He is most definatly a brony and have done multiple pony references in his reviews, as well as three pony videos. Doug can have heard of the show from him, he is a member of channel awesome after all.
Is the definition of brony still in a state of flux or something? Some people seem to say anyone who enjoys the MLP show who's a guy clearly outside the demographic(Readlder) is a brony and others don't. I don't consider myself a hardcore enough fan of MLP to be a brony(all evidence to the contrary), but I think it's time I heard for some opinions onthe subject. Also, on topic, he and CR are friends, hence why I say it's probable he does like it okay. Side note, again side-tracking, CR is one of the three steps that brought meto be a brony.
I would consider anyone who is a member of a FIM fanforum to be a brony. But essentially, you are a brony if you want to be one . CR brought me into the herd too, the release date of the second part of the MLP retrospective is the date I first watched the show. I wonder what is was that brought me from a casual fan to a full brony though. I think it was my curiosity of this extremly intresting fanbase and the irony of the brony phenomena, it being mostly popular with males.
he seemed to of watched the eps, and thats about all, since if you work on the internet, you have to know the internet.
It's clear that he has watched and actually likes the show. I'm pretty sure that the only way to be sure about whether or not somepony's a brony is if they feel like one.
Clear is making a definitve statement I can point to and say "See? Nanner Nanner Nanner". He's shown he's aware of it, and has a high probability of watching some of it. That's different from seeing all of it and liking it, or even being a fan. I think it's a safe extrapolation from his use of the show to say he does like it to some degree, but it's not conclusive. Until there's some definitve statement, we make best guesses and wait to see if he even feels like addressing it. I'm just saying, it's a bit much to say "He clearly likes it" when he's made two references.
Maybe I should rephrase myself. There's a limit between how much you can get involved in something without actually developing some form of obsession. Like the difference between somepony socially aware and a stalker. Or, in this case, a critic and a fan/hater. The commentary and point of view presented by Doug in ATG, comparing it to other opinions that he has given in his shows, lead me to believe that he actually likes the show. But, as you've said, there's still not enough evidence to give a conclusion to this topic.
