After many requests, and discussions on the matter, we've finally managed to make a properly working section specifically designed for more serious discussions. The Serious Discussion forum is intended for threads about daily news both past and present, and other similar discussions. The Debate Sub-forum is intended for discussions between two or more members. This sub-forum will be heavily moderated, and has specific rules which you will be automatically linked to upon entering the section for the first time. We do advise you read these carefully and try to remember them. The purpose of a seperate set of forums for these threads is simple. Many of you have been annoyed at the fact that we had to lock threads when they got out of hand. If these threads are placed in a specific forum however, we can lock members out of that forum rather than locking the thread to prevent it from getting out of hand. This is also why the much stricter rules are in place here. Members who can't keep to these rules will be removed from this debate forum rather quickly, so the discussion itself can be continued. I'm interested to see how the community as a whole will pick up on this. Personally, I haven't seen much success with these type of sub-forums on boards in the past, as the rules are heavily protested and people are sick of taking flak from the moderation team. It usually dies within a few months. However, I have not seen this on a pony board yet. Considering the drastically different communities, there is a small possibility this has a chance of survival.
I don't think you comprehend just how incorrect you might end up being. This is probably the one chance I'm going to take seriously for a long while.
Eek, Dan reminded me of this post. The reason these kind of projects don't work are because of posts that are lacking in content. Content here is your opinions supported by factual evidence or a public consensus.
Ponies being serious, on this site? I cannot wait to see how this goes. Also, you should have called it the 'srs bzns' thread. Though then it wouldn't be taken seriously Also, this would be a good place to bring up that chat has been going a little downhill lately. The staff are not as active as they usually are, or at least when I'm on. People get rowdy, and out of control.
