[size=-2]Doesn't look like there's a thread about this...[/size] So, the Sonic Rainboom was a myth, a legend, impossible. But as we all know, the maneuver does exist, as Rainbow Dash herself has pulled it off at least twice. Thing is, somepony must have performed a Sonic Rainboom at some point for it to become such an infamous "impossible" move that everypony would shrug off as nothing but a story. Personally, I'm thinking Celestia was the one to do the first Sonic Rainboom, but it may have been a normal pegasus, too. Thoughts?
So at some point Rainbow Dash is going to go back in time and perform a Sonic Rainboom, causing the "myth" that she would prove isn't just a myth hundreds of years later? ... Makes sense to me.
somepony definitely did it first, but as to who, idk. maybe something that'll get brought up eventually. who knows.
well, I think it could be compared to something like us reaching warp speed. We have stories about it, it is in movies, there are many theories. Scientists have an idea of how it might work, but don't know for sure. Pony scientists may have had a theory about it and Ponies may have all known about it from watching "Startrot: The Next Generation". If you will remember they didn't know exactly what to expect from the Sonic Rainboom, just like we don't know exactly what to expect when breaking the speed of light.
Possibly Commander Hurricane was the one who first performed it or some other pegasi/alicorn. Or it could be a theory that somepony came up with and was thought to be impossoble to carry out, much like travelling faster than the speed of light.
All of these make sense to me: an ex-Wonderbolt, Commander Hurricane, Princess Celestia, or an ancient pegasus. Or hey, if we want to get really fancy, maybe Rainbow Dash did at some point go back in time. Surely we've all seen those shows where someone with super speed went just a little too fast and tore through the dimension of time, right? It doesn't look like Rainbow Dash is planning to stop improving anytime soon, so maybe she would just get faster and faster until that happens, accidentally crossing into another time period and setting the precedent of the Sonic Rainboom. With that, sha-bam, now it's in the past. Definitely not the most likely scenario, but possible, in my opinion. lol
Ok the sonic rainboom. That was epic. But really she did it once when she got her cutie mark but then did it again saving Rarity. Why can't others pull it off? Is it like the sonic rainboom happens by accident only?
Well, we don't know any canon pegasi that has a cutie mark based on SPEED. The Wonderbolts propably have something around FLIGHT, but Rainbow Dash surely is faster than they are. My theories are either Rainbow Dash going back in time and repeating it there, or an ancient pegasi with a Speed Cutie Mark.
