The premise is simple. Due to a large number of complaints about the swearing rules (from even within the staff), I've taken it upon myself to put this to the test. Until Saturday the 5th of September, there is now only ONE rule on explicit language. - If you try to bypass the swear filter, your post will be removed. If we can be mature, reasonable people about this, then this rule will be made permanent and replace any rule we have for explicit language. If we cannot be mature, reasonable people about this, then the current rules stay. We will be keeping track and logging every instance we find or are reported to us of this rule being broken, and at the above date, if we find that the rule has been broken excessively, then we will openly provide the proof that the current rules are needed. It's in your hands now, everypony. Do what you will. ~Foxytail
so it's that same as before. I'm pretty sure only hell and damn worked before. does this mean the others are free to use?
Big enough that a large number of people have complained over a long period of time. I'm willing to change things if people can act maturely about it.
As the rules stand, the staff actively discourage and penalize swearing, even with the swear filters. Until the 5th, we're not doing that to see how things will go.
So then nothing has been changed. It was pretty much this way the entire time. Isn't that what the filter was put there to begin with?
Ah. That's clever then. Is there a list of the words that get filtered? On another forum, every letter in the word filtered into (USER) finds toasters sexy
@Echoax @Blackjack I can get the full list from Mike, which will be posted when I do. I can say off the top of my head most major swears and a few context minor ones are on the list. Can't be specific yet without the full list.
Penalize how. The only cases I've seen are, "please stop" In fact I've seen two words slip through that weren't censored. I'm sure EP doesn't want them used. I'm sure I can hunt them down again. Hit me up on skype if you wanna know the 2 the seem to slip through or were other wise not punished.
Don't see why this was really ever a problem... But, seeing as we can use swears now, I suppose I could post Apple.Mov or something? It's prolly the only non-gory pony.mov and all it contains is excessive swearing.
But the staff never did. As I said all cases I've seen have been "please stop" or nothing said at all. Mostly the second one.
