I absolutely despise people like this. Despite not being religious myself, I don't mind religion. Not one bit. In fact, i respect the church and it's community for what they are. But these "Jesus camps" with self-righteous people who only read the parts of the bible they agree to, spreading crap like this to future generations, is just outrageous. Think about it. Each and every one of the kids you saw in that video will turn out exactly like that preaching monster of a woman. And the worst part of it all is, these people are just allowed to do stuff like this. Apparently there's "nothing wrong with it." These people are downright crazy, spreading their crazy onto innocent children and no one does anything about it? How crazy, you ask? A plastic bottle of Nestlé seems to be holy water now. gg
OK, I believe in God and I go to church, but this is just insanity. These are the same people who blame music and TV for why people commit crimes. Being a metal fan and a Potter fan, I've heard it most of my life. If you are foolhardy enough to make bad decisions based on stuff like that, then you need to question your morals. Entertainment, to me, has no bearing on my religious beliefs and I listen to friggin' Slayer! But I try to treat others the way I want to be treated and live as good a Christian life as I can. I'm not perfect but I try. That is why God forgives... not because you make a big scene in front of a crowd and douse your hands in Nestle water. I have been baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior, but I believe all that is REALLY necessary for redemption is simple prayer. God listens.
Funny how peace is an irrelevant term, but that's up for discussion later. I didn't even need to watch a video to know that there are insanely religious people out there that just over step the line whenever they get the opportunity. While I have a very different religion from everyone else s in the world, again a discussion for another time if you have not heard it, I must agree Trance here on the fact that I accept religions for what they are so far as they don't "overdo it." In fact I have two friends that our Christians, yet after having how different my religion is from there's they just accept it as who I am. All in all there are over zealous religions all over the world and the sad part is you don't have to look very hard to find them.
The unfortunate thing that we need to accept is that people like this are clearly far too arrogant to ever change their opinions based upon what you say or think of them. This tends to be the case for religious fundamentalists in general, which has led me to have a bias against organised religion in general. Honestly, it's far easier to look on in quiet disinterest and mild disappointment.
Ugh. These people. They really need to actually read the bible. In the bible, it states that women aren't supposed to speak on church and you cannot wear mixed fabrics. To quote a wise man: "YOU AIN'T GOT NO PANCAKE MIX!"
That's not necessarily true, the kids will listen to her for a while but once they hit their teen years, most do not like being forced into something. Keep forcing restrictions upon them and they'll either conform to it or resent you for the rest of their life. I GOT WAFFLES!
This is why I disagree with not hitting women. This woman (who seems to have forgotten that gluttony is a sin) needs to be slapped.
How about having a few sane people overlook these sort of events and have them call the cops if it turns out people are going bat**** insane. This isn't even religion, this is insanity. Cops should be allowed to act on situations like this. Religion shouldn't be illegalized, of course not. But pretending to be religious and thinking it allows you to spread crap like the above video, THAT should be illegal. In fact, i do believe it already is against the Bible.
If you think about religion from a perspective of "What if this is my first ever introduction to this religion." then insanity could be applied to them all. What does the Bible have? A burning bush that talks to people, two of every animal on the goddamn planet being herded onto one boat, women being created from the rib of a man... Religion in itself is insanity from my perspective, but if you're gonna tolerate Christianity, you should at least try to tolerate those other religions who are just as crazy. The only reason I wouldn't want religion completely outlawed is because it means so much to people and the only case in which I think it should ever be repressed is when it is preaching a campaign of violence. Note: This does not mean that I believe that the likes of Islam should be repressed on the basis of a number of fanatics. Jihad should be stopped, not Islam. Same as how the KKK should be stopped but not necessarily the likes of the Boston Tea Party. Although I personally believe that all fascists, racists and general bigots should have their heads kicked in...
Woah, that video gives me flashbacks. I remember staring at rituals like these in disbelief and slowly realising that I wasn't a christian (the main reason being I don't believe kn god, but whatever). I once hung with a crowd of Pentecostalists, and while Harry Potter specifically wasn't condemned, it did remind slightly of this. I liked the christian mosh pits, though. Those were fun. I don't really know what to say about the video, except it brings back memories of alienation.
Word. And it's hard to say whether a lot of those kids in the video felt the same. One of them did, apparently.
Okay I know that these people are bad but I didnt know they were THIS bad I mean seriously she sounded like a f**king moron. I am not a Harry Potter fan but I still would stand up for them its their opinions. What shes saying makes no sense "warlocks are gods enemies" seriously lady? do you even realize how f**king stupid you sound warlocks arent real so basically your whole argument is void. Shes just as crazy as the lady from the Westboro Baptist Church.
All those things you quoted are Old Testament, more to do with Judaism(It literally IS the Jewish bible, in the Bible) than Christianity. Anyways; I dislike these kinda people, they give Christianity a bad name, and something tells me that they haven't quite read the Gospel(AKA the teachings of Jesus; AKA the foundations of Chrisitianity). But, I will not hate them because "Love your enemy" and nor shall I judge because "I should not judge for Jesus and The Lord are the the true judger." And yes, I was quoting the Gospel like more Christians should instead of digging around in the Old Testament which has very little to do with Chrisitianity and is mostly based on myth.
When you consider the fact that every day, people go over the whole thing and only care about homosexuality, you start to wonder just how much of the bible is totally ignored in favour of making Christianity as a whole look sane, when, in fact, it is one of the most violent and one of the most controversial religions ever.
Yes some specific sects of Christianity (AND other religions) are terrible, or violent, or generally a threat to decent society... BUT to just attack every single one of the over 2 billion Christians in the world and to imply none of them practice a peaceful version of religion is going too far. The fact is, most people on earth are religious, most places of worship are peaceful, and generally, it is a dangerous and intellectually dishonest road to go down to assume that religion is the sole cause of the majority of humanity's problems. And don't misunderstand, I personally have been an atheist my whole life, but it's important to see things for how they really are and not blame the general public for the faults of small minority with sometimes an inappropriately loud voice.
