Hello everypony to my very first thread ever...If you are willing to call this one. I for one lack creativity and originality...so comming up with a topic and title is extreamly difficult for me... thus I can not bring myself to join other thread since I see it a "butting in" (that and it takes forever to read all the posts and get cought up >.>) So...this thread is me asking what the hell I'm supposed talk about....and what the hell I should call my second thread. >.> sorry...I know it's a bit pathetic...but it seemed like fun to me XD
Well for starters, what do YOU want to talk about? I can't answer that for you, an neither can anypony else. As for a title, just give a breif descrption about what the thread is about. For instance, if your thread is about whether rainbow dash is better than fluttershy, then the title would read something like "Rainbow Dash vs. Fluttershy" or "Who is better? RBD or Fluttershy?" Simple as that. Now that being said, you start a thread when you want to pose a question or statement to the community and open up the topic for discussion. You also don't have to start threads at all, so you don't need an idea for a new one. Although if you have something particular you'd like to discuss, then by all means start a new thread in the appropriate section. As far as jumping into other people's threads go, you shouldn't think of it as "butting in." Think of it as joining an open conversation. Bronies start threads so that other bronies will talk about the subject they brought up, we WANT you to join in on the conversation. Not to mention that being bronies, most of us are very friendly and open to new bronies and their opinions, questions or comments. By no means are you "butting into" a thread by joining the conversation, and we certainly won't consider it so. For you, since you're not the "jump in with both feet" type of brony, I'd try just dipping your toes in the water first by posting in somepony else's thread. You can start by posting something fairly innocuous, for example, if you see a post that you agree with, say something like "yeah, my thoughts exactly" or simply, "agreed." If you see something somepony has posted that is funny, you could say something like "haha, good one." That way you can post in another thread without drawing much attention to yourself, which will build your confidence. Hope this helped a bit. ^.^
^This. As for long threads? Do what I do. If it seems too big a thread, read at least the first post in the thread to get an idea of what the thread is, and then post. We're a friendly bunch, I promise.
Aye, the others advice is definitely good to take. For long threads, I definitely recommend elementofchaos7's suggestion of reading the first post or two to get a feel for the thread, then skipping to the last page and reading a post or two there before putting your own up. No need to be nervous about what you post, as long as it doesn't go against the rules. You can also find a listing of rules for other areas of the site here. I hope this helps. Don't be afraid about us criticizing you or anything silly like that. Such actions are not necessary on this forum.
I was honestly thinking this thread was related to technical issues with being able to post on the forums.
I know how unnerving it can be to join a forum, especially if it's your first forum. You don't know how you should behave, and you think everyone is watching you and judging you on everything you do or say. But don't worry, just go with the flow in any way you want. Be yourself, and no one will be judging you. Before you know it you'll feel right at home
Well, I essentially stole the most important thread in General Discussion, but that doesn't stop anypony from throwing threads all over the place. Make a thread about what interests you. Maybe Yoshi's Island. That game is awesome.
I actually considered reading the whole of General Discussion when I first joined. I got to page 5, and thought, "Why am I doing this? No one's going to even remember these posts, and I'm not going to comment on them now!" So I just went to the end and started reading.
Like I said before, feel free to join a conversation, Scio... Or use the "reply with quote" function in order to maintain post... orderliness if you wish. Don't worry about butting in... we don't bite. Hope all is going well now, though.
as people said above. just when you see topic with something that you find interesting, just post. if topic's too long, just read few first posts to get to know what thread is about. as someone above said (yes, I'm too lazy to scroll up), we want all members (including you) to post in topics we create ( we= any member who opens a thread). don't feel shy, you'll get to along with things soon. also, if you like it, you can start on forum games, desktop or music topic, just to get that relaxed feeling.
Ok....i'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound like i'm scared to post. Thank you for all the help, but i was looking for things i should post about. I'm a slow started, and i can never pick a topic on my own, and i was just asking for what i should to. Once i start, i'm sure i'll get better....So thank you all for the support and i'm sorry for sounding so.....what's the word....>.>....well....i would say like fluttershy....but i think she has more of a backbone than me XD
