I was playing Half-Life, an alien-government conspiracy shooter from way back when. In a shark tank high above a pool with a giant alien fish in a military/science base, I stepped off the platform, signaling that I wanted to be lowered. The shark tank dropped and suddenly the monster I had risked many lives to kill, the monster that I hated and once even feared, started derping. It was jerking back and forth and making it's roaring/growling/moaning noise with such constancy and randomness of frequency that it sounded like it was gargling. This has never happened before. It couldn't be the update I installed; the last I played was the day I installed it and the giant alien fish was acting nothing like this. As I gazed upon that freakish sight, I wondered if this was a tactic it suddenly developed to mess with me. I know the soldiers have deliberately tried to mess with me before, but their AI is the most complex in the game, besides maybe the endboss who I'm not sure about because I haven't gotten to the end yet. Any Half-Life fans able to shed some light on this?
