I registered to this site a while ago, because I thought I had too in order to visit the actual livestream page. Yeah, turns out that it wasn't a requirement. Still though, seeing as how I met a few cool (and famous) ponies over there, and I knew that they posted here as well, I figured that I should frequent this site more often. And I saw this thread. So uh, hi everypony! I suppose I should tell you a little about me. I'm (going to be) a student at BCC in Bellevue, Washington and I'm a PFC in the Army Reserves. I've been a brony for about two months now, brought into this awesome fandom by a good friend. Since the ponies came into my life, I've been acting different and seeing things differently too. Honestly, I've been a lot happier now than I have been ever. That could be a side-effect of pony though. One thing I really love doing is creating. Sadly, even though my imagination creates things that would be truly epic if it were made, I lack any real artistic skill. So I make up for that by writing, specifically fanfiction. I love thinking of 'what-if' scenarios, or making a new character and giving them a back-story that can be concise with that universe. But I really haven't posted anything yet. Most of my works and ideas stay in my notebooks and on my computer. That might change, because I've bee brainstorming and writing down ideas for characters and stories. I know that most ponies frown on OC, but I like to think of it as being creative. Clopfics are, of course, the exception to that. I am currently in the process of writing a story, and I hope to be able to post it before the end of the month. I really do love this fandom. Between the music, the art, the stories, and the ponies in general, I say the brony culture will continue for a good long while. And I couldn't be happier. So thanks for being 20% cooler than anything else I have encountered. Peace, love and toleration to all. ~Sir Peppermint Jam
Welcome to Everypony... ...and to my world. Granted, I haven't tried drawing anything seriously in I don't know how many years, so I can't predict the outcome, but looking at how extremely talented artists we have in this fandom—plus my extreme lack of practice in digital arts, i.e. anything except old-school analogue pencil and a bit of pixel art—I've got my doubts that it's worth the time I can also use elsewhere. Well, how different fandoms can be. In another fandom I'm in, there are actually annual awards which include awards for original characters, but I see the danger in self-inserts and Mary Sues here, also because there are plenty of background ponies with no canonical name and no defined character to speak of that we can play with, so there's no real need to create OCs. I've already thought about writing something myself, but I'm lagging behind with my writing and other projects elsewhere already now, besides, I don't really know what bronies like to read that I'm comfortable with writing.
