Re: [Spoilers] What did you think about the musical aspect of the S3 finale? I agree. The songs were amazing and the best part of the episode to me. Sent from my EVO 4G Shift using Tapatalk 2
As stated in another thread I posted in, the music was pretty much my favorite thing about the episode. Especially when Celestia sang, oh... my... goodness.
I was going to complain about how many songs there were, until I realized that I liked all of them in this episode.
They were alright, about what I've come to expect from MLP songs. Some were quite good, and some...not so much.
How many were there, like 6? I loved half of them, the cutie mark one, the true friend one, and Celestia's song. The others weren't bad, but they were just little fanfares and small moments.
The whole episode was a song, they basically just sang instead of talked. Some were alright, the one where Twilight was singing from her window while looking up at the sky wasn't bad, but most of it was mediocre. I don't see any of the songs inspiring any brony made music or anything.
[rant] ok , I liked the first one, but then they kept on singing and singing till, honestly, it kinda ruined episode for me. sorry, that's just me [/rant]
It was awesome, they really brought something new to the table outside of the cookie cutter episodes. 6 songs is an incredible amount of effort.
I liked the songs, I understand why some didn't but personally they were the Highlight of the episode for me, I doubt I would have enjoyed the finale as much with out them, IMO the episode was made a musical to help people lighten-up their mood so the big change it brought wouldn't be so jarring.
I thought the songs were awesome! An incredible amount of effort was put into the songs, let alone make 6 for one episode. It was rather refreshing to have a song-centered episode.
Honestly, it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Yeah, it was a little Disney-esque, but the title was a reference to a Beatles album so it just kinda seems to fit.
Two of the songs. The 'This what my cutie mark tells me so' and 'good good friend' are now my favorite songs in the entire show. But that may be temporary since they are shiny and new. While all the other songs I've heard a billion remixes of.
Agreed. Now I want to rewatch the episode to listen to the songs again. I especially liked "This Is What My Cutiemark Tells Me" and the one at the 5th~ minute, combined with how grim/dark everything looked like, makes a pretty sad atmosphere imo.
The writers did a fantastic job of making the best of a bad situation. Without Hasbro's meddling, both storylines would have made excellent two-parters. As it stands, short musical numbers were the only plausible way to drive the story forward.
