Okay, let me clear a few things up. I already figured most of the stuff behind all of this out, and I'm already hunting the person responsible down. There are a few people involved in this. Me, my best friend (let's call him Gregory) and his brother (let's call him Kore). Obviously, they're not real names, but let's use them. Anyway, me and Gregory are best friends and we meet up almost every day in the summer to make up for the fact that we go to different schools. Sometimes, I tend to forget stuff and vice-versa. Especially in the worst places imaginable. Now, his brother, being the :Trollestia: he is, tends to have fun with Gregory's stuff. And here's where the worst part kicks in. I forget my USB stick, on which I have a backup copy of FL Studio (which has been useful many times in the past), half of my VSTs and soundfonts, my browser with all of my passwords, part of my Adobe suite, a huge collection of MIDI files to use for bass and drumsets (which I have trouble on, so I cut both of them out from time to time) and so on. Like, almost everything that I use is on that USB. Now, Kore knows who I am and how I act on the Internet and IRL, he's seen me do that many times in games such as TF2 and a few e-mails. So, here's the most fun part. He PRETENDED to be me and "started making music" UNDER MY NAME. That is in quotes because IT'S NOT MUSIC. What is it? He takes my MIDI files, runs them through FL Studio, saves as MP3 and posted it on YouTube. Using my Adobe suite, he created cover art too (oh, btw, my whole pony image collection is on that USB as well) , and successfully pretended to be me. Kore posted it on BOX .NET because he doesn't know how I come up with these songs' names (which is me closing my eyes and randomly selecting an item and making something using said item as inspiration) and later, he tagged it (I never do that, except for albums) and posted it on Everypony. Well, I got myself a little surprise. I was thinking about leaving EPR for a few weeks now and I decided that the weekend would be the best time to say so. It was about my vacation and the fact that I had school and stuff, and I would've resigned anyway. That's when I got my USB back. I went onto YouTube to check up on a new ashens video, and remembered that I was logged in as EveryPonyVideos. I decided to check the Inbox and what do I see? "Jeeze Vinyl... what DIDNT you steal?" First thought was "The hell is this?". After that, I see both of my "uploads" and I notice that I may be screwed. Over the few days, I thought of a way to fix everything that Kore did. First, I dispelled the rumor on EPR. That was my main thing that I had to do. Get rid of the rumor, as it was NOT ME THAT POSTED THAT. I have used MIDIs for songs in the past, but they are rarely longer than 13 seconds long (my first three songs were based off MIDI files, but the third was my own composition from Wing-0). Then, I wanted to find the little :Trollestia: that shamed me and pay him back. He was home, luckily, and didn't run off to a small town 100km away from here (and I would've waited until September to get back at him). Anyway, in those few minutes, I forgot everything that bronies have taught me. I'm going to leave it at that, but he's not hurt. Not badly hurt, anyway. I also erased the copy of my USB stick everywhere on his PC. He'll (most likely) never do this again. And I will still never start ripping off people's music. Other thing I learned- always keep USB stick on me. NEVER LEAVE WITHOUT IT. Also, no, I won't tell you where Kore lives or his IP.
I'm so sorry Vinyl Scratch... I hope this never happens to anypony... I don't understand why people do such things, I really don't.
Ah, I might've not been clear on that. "It was about my vacation and the fact that I had school and stuff, and I would've resigned anyway. " might be not very decent. I am leaving because I'm going to be gone until September, and from there, I have school starting in 3 days, and I'm also going to have lessons AFTER school. For example, Martial Arts, Drawing, possibly Piano. Either way, I'm not going to have a lot of free time anymore.
Getting a good packer right now, and I'm going to pack that program as well (probably in a locked ZIP with the same extension as the other files). They're parasprites. It's their job.
So let me get this straight A guy with no past knowledge in music figures out how to run FL, a complicated DAW, over the course of a few days Makes music in the same style as you normally do it (midi drums, kontact libraries, no reverb, etc. etc.) Knows your nickname among the staff Knows enough about ponies to know about the locations from the show AND the behavior of the obscure background ponies And knows our youtube account's password to upload the songs? I'm guessing he also got your livestream password to talk with your account on the livestream too did he not?
Sorry to hear that, I really am. Kore sounds like a ****. Well, much brony love to ya Vinyl, I hate it when this stuff happens to the good guys.
Actually, screw the DAW part, he went and opened up NEXUS in it. Half the time, I DO use normal drums, but that's still pretty rare. Soundfont, so it's more or less MIDI drums. He heard me and Gregory talk about EPR and how we hope for it to go into. (of course, all hypothetically) There was reverb in it, actually, I found the MIDI that he ripped off. He looked through my collection of images and other stuff. He also WATCHES the show, so he's a bit involved with the locations, etc. I didn't log out of your account, so he doesn't know the password. Livestream, same thing as above. I don't like to log out. He also accessed my e-mail, but gave up at the select screen. EDIT: Derpy, do you hate me?
KORE YOU TROLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just remember,if theres no marks or internal bleeding, noone will notice
also, quik question, how does being a dj like that work,do you just find soundbits and edit them together in a melodic way that appeals to our natural sense of rythm
Not the Everypony Radio DJ, but that's more or less how a real DJ (not those DJs that just pitchbend or slow it down/speed it up) works.
cool, sounds hard, how would one go about doing something like that(gets out tiny notepad, with comically oversized pen))
I don't hate you I hate being lied to And I find it quite insulting that you'd think I'd buy that. So what, first you said you left your USB stick at his house, now you say you never logged out of the youtube so you left your whole laptop there? Of course you could pull the whole "I signed in at his house" thing, if that's the case - for what reason would you need to sign in there? Check the messages? Aren't you at his house because you like him? Aren't you there to spend time with your friend? Last thing that crosses my mind when I'm over a friends house is to check my youtube messages, and if I do - I normally keep it on my phones mobile app But regardless, how about this - which you shared in chat, acting as you normally do, with your EPR livestream account, on your box.net account: http://www.box.net/shared/d1tpt8bl8n5dzsgoqai7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgsOBkSDLj4 You had borrowed from video game midis in the past and I never said anything about it because you did most of the song yourself, or at least that's what I was assuming (seeing as you told me you borrowed from video game midis and they were so obscure I had never heard of the game they're from). You just got lazy, and got caught And now you're lying to all of us, taking advantage of our trust to try and get out of this unscathed. Now instead of trying to dodge the many holes in your story own up to it, I have more respect for someone who can admit to lying then just continue lying when they're caught in the act.
whats the diff between first and second,i just wanna know how it works,i like to take intrest in things because the more i can do,the more intrsting my life becomes
The first link I posted was a midi "wip" he posted as his own work The second is a published artist who owns the copyright to that song (the same one he posted midi of as "his own work") A midi is basically a virtual score that can play on any computer and is easily workable with any music program, it basically contains note data and what instruments to play them. You can easily find midis of many popular songs out there if you search them, the idea being that if you get a midi of a song you can easily remix it (or integrate it into a game you're working on, etc. etc. - they have many practical applications)
I think this needs to be sorted out (if it needs sorting out at all) over private chat guys. It's not fair to falsely accuse someone, it's best to take their word for something if they say they're being honest.
