Why can't her last name be Hooves?

The school is still called Canterlot High.

 

If it absolutely positively cannot be Hooves, then our only choice is obviously Feets. Derpy Feets.

It doesn't imply that she actually has hooves.

 

I would say Hooves but we don't know what kind of names they have in that universe. It could be Andersson or something like that. Or it could be Smith. Her last name could be anything.

The exact same kind of names that they have in Equestria. Even the horse puns in place names are the same. (Canterlot/Canterlot High)

 

I see, however they didn't say anyone's last name. And Canterlot High can be referring to something.

 

I'm pretty sure it will be Hooves even if she is human or not. Like, for example, they said Twilight's last name and still was the same in the human world.

 

Derpy's last name was originally supposed to be Doo, right? So probably that, if not Hooves.

In the Riseverse, the names you are familiar are "Chosen Names", nicknames that the humans chose for themselves.

Later Riseverse stories reveal the real names of several characters, but the real name of Human Derpy Hooves (or who her parents are) is yet to be revealed.


In fact, a lot of plot points and plot twists in the Riserverse come from revealing the real names of the humans.

The only exceptions are Human Trixie (her real name is Trixie Tamiya), Principal Celestia (her real name is Lauren Celestia), and Vice Principal Luna (her real name is Hermione Luna), who don't have Chosen Names (althought Hermione Luna was known as "Nightmare Moon" when she was with the Changeling street gang, but she dropped that name once she quit the gang, reformed and became Vice Principal of Canterlot High).

 

What in the name of Celestia is the riserverse? Is it a fan fiction or something like that?

Trixie's last name is Tamiya because she is the daughter of Toraichi Tamiya, born in the U.S.A. after Toraichi moved there alongside Belldandy, Keiichi, Skuld, Sayoko and Megumi.

Also, the term "human" is used loosely here, since Sunset Shimmer's Earth counterpart is Yukina Morisato, the demigoddess daughter of Keiichi and Belldandy, and Fluttershy's Earth counterpart is a regenerated Jenny, the Doctor's daughter, who later becanme a goddess/Time Lady hybrid and was adopted by Belldandy and Keiichi.
