Just wondering if anypony else comes up with outlandish stretches of the imagination regarding the show. Example: For some reason, I feel like Apple Bloom would be really into Pantera, Discord owns a chain of Burger Kings in the land of Griffons, and the Equestria Dept. of Agriculture has launched a full-scale investigation into whether or not any chemicals are used in the growing of zap apples. IDK... just some dumb stuff I came up with in my headcanon. Anypony else got any?
I think that Princess Luna and Celestia met Discord at a young age, but when they tried to introduce him to the world of ponies, they all thought he was hideous and tried to shun him completely away from the community. Bitter over this, Discord started to use his magic that Luna and Celestia tried to keep under control to spread chaos over Equestria for the first time. At a loss, the princesses spoke with their mentor, Starswirl the Bearded, who crafted two necklaces for them, each containing a power of 6 different elements. Discord thought he wouldn't be defeated, so he laughed when the princesses said they could stop him, blasting him with the Elements of Harmony as he did so. However...I don't think that's the end to the story. I think Discord planted a seed of evil and jealousy into Luna's head, much like he did with the mane six in the Labyrinth. This ended up with Luna turning into Nightmare Moon, forcing Celestia to wield the elements against her own sister. With Luna gone, the elements became un-tuned to the princesses, so neither Celestia or Nightmare Moon could use them. I think the disappearance of the Crystal Empire must have happened some time between the battle with Discord and the banishment of Luna, because that also took 1000 years, but it was unclear as to the date it would return. With Luna, it was marked on the calendar as the Summer Sun Celebration by the prophecy. When Starswirl cast his spell on the elements, it didn't do anything, because Celestia and Luna had already been separated. That's why he never found out what his spell did and never finished it, so when he died, the elements were lost in the Everfree Forest where he lived. I think his castle must have been the ruins that Nightmare Moon found the elements of harmony in on that pedastal, which looked like some form of old mechanism. Wow, with all the stuff the princesses failed to prevent they really suck at their jobs don't they?
I have a headcanon that Vinyl Scratch is deaf from listening to loud music when she was young, so she just feels the beat whenever she's making music instead of listening.
I have a lot of crazy thoughts in my head about mlp:fim mostly its just plain old non-canon crap that the usual fan thinks of then there are others that I haven't seen anyone discuss. I personally believe that Derpy is canon pony, I also retain a ton of ideas to keep the show alive after it ends.
Few ponies know that before opening her shop, Rarity had a brief stint as an artist for Disney. Her most famous creation was Darkwing Duck.
King Sombra is from further north than the crystal empire and invaded to take the power they had stored in the crytals to turn himself into a god after making himself an immortal. Celestia was given her powers by a group of god making individuals who have had a hand or at least a finger in every major population's religion since time began. There is no such thing as a redeemable changeling and that chrysalis died after the invasion. All of these are stories I've written on fimfiction if any of my ideas interest you in the slightest.
I had it headcanon that Luna could see into and even possibly control other ponies' dreams As well as listening in on the wishes made by ponies to a falling star At least one of those 2 came true

One of my favorite headcannons that i made when i tired is that Twilight Sparkle is human, but schizo and is in coma. /don't judge me/
Before they earned their alicorn-ships, Celestia was an ordinary unicorn and Luna was a pegasus. They had many adventures together.
I was actually thinking about writing a fanfic on that exact subject! It was a couple days after the finale and I was at work where my mind tends to wander. She came out of her coma and remembered nothing of her life before "the accident." Her real name was Tara Vargas but she recognized all of her friends by their pony names (which were actually their usernames on a social network).
Scootaloo is an Orphan and the whole town helps take care of her Cheerilee is the youngest teacher in Equestria. Luna's Night Guard Bat Winged Pegasui are part Dragon and live on Luna's Moon Base.
