I'm really tired of people saying how FiM is for little girls. Yes, obviously, but little girls don't buy toys. Therefore there's a second target audience. Moms buy toys, but only when for a reason, say a birthday party or Christmas. Most impulse toy buys are by dads, like me. Why? Well, it's dads who go on long business trips, gone for days sometimes. When we come back we buy toys for our children to make the reunion and occasion even more special. Dads have always done this, I imagine that cave-dads returning from a long hunt brought their kids special presents. So, imagine a dad stopping by a toy store on the way home from an airport or even Friday night after a long long work week, what toy is he going to pick out? Just some random toy? Or something he also knows and loves. Dads watch cartoons too, either because the kids have it on or just because there's nothing good on TV anymore. Really, I'd rather put on cartoons than watch those stooopid 'reality tv' shows. MLP:FiM is good, it's plot is good the characters are good, the animation is good... ya, preachin to the choir here. Point is, even if I didn't have kids, I'd be a fan. Now, when I go into the toy store, what toy do you think I'll buy my little girl? How could I not buy a pony? I'm the target audience. Yup. Peace
I bought a Fluttershy T-shirt. But that may be as far as I'll go, because the T-shirt serves a function as clothing and also a proud stamp of my bronydom. If I wasn't struggling financially I would probably buy the main 6 as figurines, because I do the some thing with other anime and video games I like. But I'm am not interested in those stupid brushables if I buy a collectable of something is has to actually look like it.
I plan on buying the mane 6 figures, I only have rarity at the moment. I own 4 shirts. I'll buy toys, I just wish they looked more like the show. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
I buys toys...and I hope someday when I have children of my own that they will enjoy the ponies as much as I am right now, so yes my children will have plenty of ponies to play with someday (alliteration not intended but I seem to be doing it more and more since I got into ponies)
I got a AppleJack Shirt and i'm ready to go buy an AppleJack figurine. ^^ I already have a Pinkie Pie one. :3
Rest assured, MLP will be back in an other incarnation for our next generation. However, I doubt it'll be as awesome as this one but maybe FiM is a wake up call. OT however, nothing against buying the toys but with summer coming to a close and many new games on the horizon, I won't have money to really indulge. My brother works at Target and I still have his discount card so when I get a bit of extra money, I may just go for it. My desk is cluttered with Star Wars stuff too so it'll come down to the very trying decision between Star Wars and Ponies. That's a choice no one should have to make. On a side note, I do have a shirt on the way. I'll sport any piece of MLP apparel like a champ.
I buy toys all the time, but not MLP. Not yet anyway, not until we get some figures based on the show models. I do plan on buying that blind bag box set that's exclusive to Toys 'R Us eventually, but nothing more than that.
I don't buy toys, yet in a fit of joy, I went to Tesco with my friend and spent £42 on the entire mane cast.
I have a Fluttershy shirt, two Mcdonald's toys (Fluttershy and Twilight, the latter I wore on my cap at high school graduation) and a Fluttershy toy from Target. Guess who my favorite pony is
I bought the Twilight's balloon when I saw the stand at Tesco's! That was ok; me mam knew I was a brony anyway. Maybe when I have time I can look for Fluttershy there too.

I feel kinda bad. I work at McDonalds and I wasn't watching the show when they came around. I could have lifted the whole set.
I bought a Vinyl Scratch goodies that my friend made. I may soon start collecting the FiM characters.
I have quite a collection of MLP toys here's a coulpe pictures of my collection Front Row: "Cupcake" brushable, Twilight Sparkle McDonalds happy meal, Rainbow Dash (small figure), TS (small figure), PP (small figure), Rarity (small figure), Applejack (small figure), RD McDonalds happy meal, Lulu Luck brushable Middle Row: Celestia McDonalds happy meal, TS (gift set), PP (gift set), AJ (gift set), Spike (gift set), Blossomforth brushable, Rarity McDonalds happy meal, RD Light-up Back Row: Rarity brushable, RD brushable, PP brushable, Celestia (gift set) AJ brushable, FS brushable, TS brushable Not pictured : Dewdrop Dazzle brushable. I bought that one after I took the picture.
I'd like to buy a toy. (Can you read that *without* it being in Fluttershy's voice?) But I'm poor. Perhaps, when Christmas rolls around, I'll get a little money and will buy a couple. There's some sets I wouldn't mind having - such as: http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pon...=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1313887364&sr=1-7 or http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pony-Friendship-Ponyville/dp/B004L6SGV4/ref=dp_cp_ob_t_title_3 I'm sure there's others, though. And shirts. And I saw some Rainbow Dash running shoes! And badges and socks and - uh, sorry, got a little carried away.
I don't buy toys, but one perk of having nearly every working occupant of the household working at McDonald's at the time of the show is that I was able to get a hold of nearly the entire set they had, with the exception of Applejack and Pinkie Pie. They got them for my little sister, who isn't too much into the show, but very much into getting toys. I wasn't much into the show at the time myself, but once I was, I immediately remembered them. To some of my horror, I had found my little sister had gotten a hold of scissors in the meantime and clipped everypony's tail down to a little tuft of hair - and none of them had their brushes to my recollection. I don't have them in my possession anymore and they're scattered around the living room somewhere, but I did spend some time admiring and posing them around. One piece of merchandise I did buy was a Friendship is Magic activity book at Toys R Us that was on sale for about a dollar-twenty-five. I would purchase and wear a shirt, however. The toys they sell from the show aren't bad at all, but I wouldn't get them for myself. I'm not at the point in the fandom where I would go out and purchase some for admiration or decoration purposes. And to that end, they don't look much like from the show, which takes some appeal out of it. If I did get some though, they would keep my Duke Nukem FOREVER action figure some company - Duke himself would probably enjoy the company of the Mane cast, I'd reckon.
I'm not much interested in toys. I prefer to call what I would buy figurines, they need to look like the actual show ponies and not have those stupid brushable manes. I did see something that I would have died for, but it was one of a kind and selled for way more then I could have afforded on a student budget. View attachment 1071 sigh a Fluttershy fan can only dream.
