What is your favorite painter from the abstract/surrealism era? Mine would have to be the tormented soul known as Francis Bacon. The Irish born painter has a ghastly and rather tragic way of looking at the world, then again what do you expect from a secret homosexual who was keen on drinking and was overly fond of Nietzsche. I love Francis Bacon for the uniqueness and individualism of his paintings, you can tell it was Bacon's. His unique way of oil painting and portraiture have been called disturbing and dreadful but he no doubt changed contemporary painting.
Hoho, that's really interesting! I myself am a huge Dali fan, he was quite a character. "I don't do drugs. I am drugs!" - Salvador Dali. ~
I've always been a Dali fan. My favorite piece of his would have to be The Persistence of Memory, better known as "that weird painting with the melting clocks."
