We really don't know what all SG is capable of. Sure taking cutie marks is her forte but she is also a power-hungry maniac who will do whatever it takes to achieve her ends and has subdued a whole town of both adult and young ponies. The question I'd ask myself is would I really want to pit MY little sister up against someone like that? My answer is no. Is that a fair enough response? Not trying to pick on you but it seems like a pretty cut and dry case of common sense to me.
Sending children to fight a powerful magician. What could go wrong? Also the mane six didn't know of her power until they were in the town, and then they couldn't contact the cutiemark crusaders. Do you really want the biggest plot hole in history?
Have you even seen the episode? If the CMC were going to beat her, they would have to fight the entire town first. Also, can you please explain how a brainwashing cult leader is "more like Dick Dastardly or Doctor Evil than any real-life criminal"?
Question, if I would have said "Starlight Glimmer could easily win against the CMC because some fans said so", would you have taken that seriously? The answer is no, but when you say "Starlight Glimmer would have been defeated by the CMC because some fans said that she couldn't wing against some anime characters" you expect me to take that seriously. She is an adult Unicorn who brought down one of the most powerful ponies in existence, and controls dozens of unquestioningly loyal ponies. She's essentially a cult leader, and is more than willing to use force to achieve her goal of Equestrian "equality." I do not know what he has done in the past, but in this thread, the very first comment was passive aggressive and rude. Really, guys. I'm very disappointed.
