So I was at the mall today, and saw a guy buying brony shirts, and I got excited. This was the first time I've ever seen a brony in real life, so I went up to give him a bro-hoof. And this was our conversation: Me: Bro-hoof! Him: What? Me: Oh, I'm a brony too so I wanted to give you a bro-hoof Him: You can't be a brony, you're a girl Me: Oh, yeah, pegasister. Either way. Bro-hoof! Him: No, you're a girl. It's not ironic. Me: Ironic? Him: The only reason anyone watches that show is to be ironic. Me: Well, I don't think- Him: And girls are supposed to watch it. That makes it not ironic. The whole point is the irony. Me: ....what? Him: -_- you don't understand the internet Then he walked away quite rudely. So I was just wondering: Are you only supposed to watch it to be ironic? I watch it because I like it...
I like it and it is the one of the only consistent cartoons still out there not to mention entertaining.
I think the majority of people watch it 'cos they like it.... otherwise, why'd they want to watch every single episode, every single week? Just to be ironic? 'Coarse, there's some who do... but... I enjoy the show, and find it cute, funny, uplifting, etc. I like the show because I like the show, not because its ironic to like the show.
Because it's good, but the guy you talked to seemed he only watched it because it was ironic, not because he liked it.
Obviously that guy is unaware of the community side of bronies. We watch it for the irony? Yep that's definitely why. That sucks that your first brony encounter didn't go so well, I've never met any myself yet. I watch the show because it's such a huge breath of air compared to other cartoons. I love the interactions between the characters, their personalities. I love the stories behind each episode. I love the animations: simple yet high quality. I also love the morals taught. I've always been a kind person at heart, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded of morals that everyone should follow. I find no irony in bronies. I actually wish everyone would give the show a try. People would be much happier as a result.
I watch it because I like it. I don't really get the whole concept of watching it because it is ironic. If I don't like something, then I'm not going to watch nor promote it.
I watch it because it's funny, lame, awesome, sad, etc, etc, etc. Mainly just because it's a fun show to watch.
The sweet nectar that is nostalgia. Makes me think of all the cartoons of the late 90's and early 00's. When cartoons were entertaining and actually funny instead of fart jokes left right and centre like nowadays. :I Also, I'm a sucker for cute things... so yeah, that too.
I watch it because I like it. I find it cute, endearing, heartwarming, funny, and colorful. I love the stories, characters, attention to detail, and the care the creators have for their fanbase. Thus far, it has ALWAYS been a great pick-me-up if I'm down about pretty much anything. If I'm depressed about something, I watch an episode that's somewhat related and then I feel better and feel like I can better approach the situation. It's a good show that does a great job reminding me of simple morals that, through the years in this dreary world, I found I had forgotten until now.
I watch MLP for many reasons, but irony isn't one of them. That guy was pretty rude and obviously doesn't get it, probably never will. I guess he has no idea how large the community is if he only bought the shirt to troll.
for the plot! Nah, not really. Maybe he was having a bad day or who knows. I watch this show because it brings some happiness into my life. Like Merri, I too am a sucker for cute things
I like it!Its cute, funny and teaches morals in a good way. Also it reminds me of when kids cartoons were funny, and didn't make me want to strangle the characters with their own intestine.(EEnE,Ren and Stimpy,ETC)
