I assume you mean the power cable.
    (Just clarifying).
Well, if it's totaled, you've got but one choice.
    Replace it.

    They're fairly cheap to replace.
Either buy one from your original manufacturer or from Amazon/NewEgg/TigerDirect/CanadaComputers/etc.

In fact, if you give me your laptops model and manufacturer, I could find one for you!
    Save you the trouble!

That's my solution to the problem.
(Should cost about <= $50, depending on source and model)

Or you could always get out the solder and electrical tape...

You can do what Frost said, or... just buy a new replacement.

If it is not working, just replace the cable. My charger burned out completely.. lol.

If you can not yet fry bacon on it, duct tape can fix it. If not, solder.

If no that, it's easier to replace.

What everypony else said: you should probably replace it, just to be on the safe side.

I fixed mine last year after i crushed it. I showed my brother and he spliced it.(I believe thats the term) He used some clippers to remove the thick rubbery outside from the wires and cut off all the flattered wire. From there he wrapped the rest of the wires together and put some kind of plastic patch there to hold them together. It's been over a year and I'm still using it.

You don't even necessarily need the exactly same adapter that came with your laptop. As far as I know, most laptops can be run/charged on cheaper third-party adapters. Just make sure that the plug and the voltage are compatible, and that it's powerful enough.
