So, I just got here, and I've barely had enough time to make my profile. I think that means its time for me to start posting ideas on how to better EP! So here's an idea! The Wii U just came out, and has an entire social network called Miiverse. With it, you can keep up with friends, and look at posts about your favorite Nintendo games. So EP, here's an idea, though I'm not sure if it's even possible, it still deserves a shout out. There's already ways to post your skype, yahoo, gamertag, PSN ID, etc... Why not one more? The console may be new, but I think ones Wii U profile should still be able to be posted on your profile with the rest of your identities. How about the rest of you? Do you think a Wii U link is a good idea or a waste of space?
I've got strong reservations about buying Nintendo stuff these days, actually. Last few investments have been a letdown for me... All Nintendo does is focus on the hardware, and making the gameplay as fresh and exciting as possible. The result being that the games they make are usually remakes of old games or just as boring and similar as the games they made 10 years ago. That or the gameplay is so strongly based on their newest hardware that the game itself suffers for it. I find it hard to enjoy Nintendo games lately.
I say yes. The problem with nintendo is that they don't work the same way as sony, microsoft or as any other company does. They've always done things differently. Once there are enough users around, it's safe to say that it would be a good idea. Now that Rarit E mentions it, they have been doing alot of remakes but I'm not going to criticize their methods. They pretty much won this past generation with their console in sales. Although alot of gamers have bought ps3s and 360s later on during the generation.
It's a good point. I agree Nintendo can be and has been rather hardware focused over the years. I also agree that their have been more remakes than there should have been... (funny note on that, there have officially been more new super mario bros games than their were super mario bros games) However, I do believe that their is an exception to every rule. As games like Skyward Sword proven a game can be improved by focusing on the hardware. And some of their older titles almost completely ignored the hardware, as with Mario Galaxy. As well, their third party support over the years has been incredible, from instant classics like Madworld to saving the blue blur from certain doom with Sonic Colors. And I think that that's the glory of the Wii U. Sure it does have its own unique hardware in the tablet controller, but it contains all the features of a regular controller. As well, developers have taken note of this, as games like Ninja Gaiden 3: Razors Edge have all but ignored the tablet, choosing to use it simply for extra buttons. All in all, I agree with Lyon. Nintendo does like doing things differently, and in my opinion at least, i think that that has been a benefit more than a hindrance. I think adding the option at least is a good idea. After all, I'm no future seer, but I see the Wii U only getting more popular down the road! ^^
Forgive me Yami, I'm quite new here, and have no idea who you are. o.o However, I posted this thread in the hopes of adding the ability to link Wii U accounts to EP, similar to how Xbox live and PSN accounts are. I also wanted to hear everyone's opinion on the matter, since the console is so new, as to whether it deserves such the honor. That's all. ^^ I guess I wanted to start posting with a bang and thought it would be a good idea to start with something I care about! I edited my first post to sound more coherent, I just noticed how I missed my key point.
xD The name is still a mystery to me. When it comes to mercadotecnia that name makes it simple to pronounce. @belmont he's playing around with the way the name is
If you're looking for a way to make Wii accounts visible on your profile, i'm sure that can be done. I'll direct Mike to this thread if he hasn't seen this already. He can probably add such a feature.
Do Wii U profiles have a URL attached to them? If they don't I'll still implement it, it'll just be plain text and not a link.
Well, alrighty then! I didn't think I'd see results so fast o.o I hope this thread doesn't fall off the face of the earth after this, I'd still love to hear more peoples opinions. As well, I hope I haven't come across as sounding rude. I was genuinely thinking of everyone, not just myself @Yami ahh I see. I didn't catch on, my oopsie x.x @Rarit E That would be mighty kind of you, thank you! (so... can I assume Mike is a Mod of some kind? I'm still a bit green here :3) @Mike Oh crap, I didn't think of that... I don't believe there's a site linked to your account like with the PSN... At least not yet. I'll take a look around, but I'm surprised that didn't cross my mind...
Mod? Hmhmhm. No, dear friend, Mike is an admin. Tech admin! Awesome dude of awesome! And his post also precedes yours. =P
@Yami I see, so... I'm in the presence of royalty here? Wow, here 1 day and I'm already speaking with an admin! owo score 1 on the personal coolness factor!
Okay Mike, here's what I got, needless to say, I feel I may have been a burden here. The proper name of a Wii U account is a "Nintendo Network ID". As it stands right now, there is no link to any website that allows someone to check the status of the ID, it can only be checked on the Wii U itself. I don't know if this will change in the future, but as it stands right now, if it were added to the profile editor it would appear as simply plain text. I'm sorry if I wasted your time. A post from Nintendo states that, and i quote "In the future, you will be able to use your Nintendo Network Account with future Nintendo consoles and other devices, such as PC's."
Thank you for the info. I'll still give the option for you to add to your profiles so at least other Wii U owners may be able to find share info with you. If Nintendo does make the future change for public profile URL's I'll reflect the change here.
Well thanks anywa... Wait, REALLY? :ahh: That's great! I can't thank you enough! I never expected my idea to take off like that... I hope I'm not the only one who takes advantage of this, I'll feel bad if I'm the only one here who cares enough about the Wii U to wan't to post their ID. But my god, I'm having a pinkie pie moment over here, I've been here a day and I've already helped to have a positive change made to the site! Thank you mike, and thank you Rarit E for forwarding him here! Excuse me for a moment, I'm gonna go gush!
