The latest episode made me think about something. Could it be that Princess Luna has a castle of her own somewhere, instead of Canterlot? Why did i think of this, you may ask? I've never seen any of those in Canterlot... There's also the fact that it's probably been a few months since she was turned back into herself, yet in those months, she never learned anything about how everything changed. Secluded much, perhaps? She wasn't anywhere to be seen during the pilot episodes of season 2 either.
interesting point you have there, this episode was the first time I ever saw those guards and I started thinking about the same thing.
Maybe these bat-winged pegasi just sleep during the day. Or maybe they are... Pegagoyles. (YYYYOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW)
Intresting idea, it would explain why Luna has not been seen with her sister. I think I will use it. I would call those ponies the Moonguard, they are probably Luna's equivalent of Celestia's royal guard.
I'm not sure that guards on duty would dress up for Nightmare Night. Unless, of course, it's the traditional way for guards to dress when being with Luna.
@Zephyr - I thought the same thing when I first saw them, but then why are they colored differently than the other royal guards?
Maybe each princess has their own guards specifically tasked to accompany them, much like the president's Secret Service. These could be Luna's personal guards. That would explain their colors and unusual apparel.
I bet on the costumed guards theory, considering how powerful Twilight's magic is, Luna's must be powerful as hay , making easy for her to transfigure the guards, they even can be the same royal guards...
Yeah, well, if that's the case, it might not have been the best way to do something about her scary reputation.
