Hey everypony, So atm I have a major sore throat and it's not getting any better :/ It's gotten wore through out the day. So far I have tried: Gargling salt water, drinking tea, drinking ice water, throat lozenges both normal & high strength and a throat spray and they give me about 5 mins re-leaf :/ Any suggestions?
For me, time is my remedy. My immune system is pretty good, however. Though, if it is majorly bad, I pop 2 paracetamol tablets down me throat, repeat if needed, and job's a good'n.
Dr. Enuf works well, but unless you're in the mountains of NC, VA, or TN then there's no chance you'll find them. I was able to cure my sickness once with Canada Dry Ginger Ale, albeit it took me a few days. How badly does it hurt?
As Testyal said the only true cure is patience, but with a sore throat, it's tough to stand idly by. Here's what you make: Brew up some lemon tea and insert some honey. The lemon will cut through the layer of mucus on the back of your throat, and the honey will act as a minor antibiotic while doubling as a coating agent. You can also substitute lemon for chamomile. It has the same effect as the lemon, although it tastes slightly worse in my opinion. As an added bonus for the lack of taste it has chemicals in it which causes drowsiness, and to be honest sleep is the best thing for anything cold-related. That's the tastiest, but the most effective way is to gargle salt water. It tastes horrible, but it destroys the bacteria causing the soreness. Be sure to find a coating agent to keep it soothed afterwards though. (Honey, Cough drops, or any hard candy) Hope this helps, good luck with your sore throat.
Did you see a doctor? If stuff is back there, it's wise to drink water to allow it to wash out. When I'm sick, I try to rest as much of the day as I can. Coughing can tear up a throat. If it's a cough causing it, it's torture day and night. Do you have or have you had a fever or felt light-headed and dizzy?
if it's really bad, go to doctor if it's not really bad, for me Streptoletes always works (I take 3-4 of them) (this: ) it's like medicine mint candy specifically made for sore throat.
Well, for me, time is always the key to successful healing. However, I did find out from a friend of mine his special remedy when it comes to either a sore throat, or the common cold. 1. If you have them on-hand, pick out a pack of Ramen Noodles. Any common flavor is fine for this, but I'd highly advise avoiding the spicy flavors. 2. As usual, fill a regular soup pot up nearly halfway, and bring it to a boil. 3. When the water comes to a boil, add in the noodle block, and zest it up with a small amount of lemon juice. (4 - 7 drops, depending on what you would like.) 4. Fluff around the noodles with a fork until relatively soft, then turn off the burner/hot plate. Now let the noodles sit for 1 minute. 5. Carefully drain out the remaining water until a only a small amount is left, and pour the noodles into a soup bowl. 6. Mix in the seasoning, and enjoy! The lemon juice, like Zephyr said, will help penetrate the layer of mucus in the back of your throat, and the softness and heat from the Ramen Noodles will help soothe the pain.
