Election 2012-My Thoughts

Like many people, I watched the election this week with great anticipation, waiting to see which direction our country would go. Like many people, I was greatly relieved when President Obama was re-elected for a second term. This election was about more than just Red States and Blue States. It was, for all intents and purposes, a battle for our national identity. In the last four years, conservative Republicans were nastier than they have ever been and I was truly afraid that a Romney win would encourage them to be even nastier than that. What happened on Tuesday was historic because, for the first time, all the minority groups that the Tea Party viewed with such disdain rose up as one to reject altogether the politics of fear and hate. Those of us working towards a lasting peace in this country have much to celebrate. We've got more work to do, but today, we are closer than we have ever been. So ignore those who would mourn "the death of America", for theirs is a dying breed. Let us move forward to a bright future where the founders' promise of Liberty And Justice For All might finally be accompished. And above all, let us always remember to Love and Tolerate even those who would not do so in return.

Peace
