It's the day of my birth today...

Yeah. It's my Birthday today. It's not so great, all it is to me is the day of my birth. A reminder of our mortality and that were are one year closer to death as well. It maybe great as a kid, but if feels like it has no point now-a-days. I also hate restaurants that feel the need to Celebrate it. Stupid corporate a-holes. It's one of those things where I sometimes want to say who flippin' cares?

We move on anyway after the day is done. We don't give it a second thought the next day after it. It's pointless, like Halloween. Well Halloween in the more recent years. You get my point. I also know that I'm going to get a lot of comments saying that I shouldn't be sad or not feeling like it's not worth anything. Save your breath. I've heard it too many time to count.

If you want to say Happy Birthday, that is fine. I'll probably say 'thanks' but really, I don't really give a flip about this day. About the only thing of significance this day is Cinco de Mayo. That isn't really a celebration for anything either as much as people think it is. It's more or less a day for people to get piss drunk, like St. Patrick's Day. I'd say the other word for it but it would get censored.

Anyway, have a happy Cinco de Mayo I guess. Avoid the roads tonight, if you don't have to go anywhere urgent. Drunks will be taking over the roads, so yeah.

    No offence, but, if you think birthdays are irrelevant, why mention it? I get where you're coming from with the mortality side of things, but I prefer to think of birthdays as a celebration of having survived another year, and an excuse to celebrate with people you like.
    Each to their own, but I hope you have a nice day anyway :)

    Meh. I figure to explain it to get it out of the way. The reason is that I know people will be asking why I'm so mopey about it otherwise. I just figure to save people the trouble of asking. Because if it's especially something you hate, people prying doesn't help.

    Anyway, I do see your point with celebrating it with people I like, and I'll be doing that today. Well, to an extent. I'm heading over to Denny's to get myself a free birthday Grand Slam. Also later tonight, I'm making tacos for Cinco de Mayo and enjoying my cake. So I'll be doing some fun things to get my mind off my Birthday, at least to finish it properly and quickly.

    I got fired from my job before my birthday, so, my birthday was pretty much staring deeply into ice cream cake, and then eating a big slice.

    I also watched the Aquaman Justice League animated movie. It was alright.

    One of the reasons I make a big stink about it is because of the day it's on. It's one of those days where I know everyone uses Cinco de Mayo as an excuse to get piss drunk. It's basically St. Patrick's day part 2 for me. Drunk drivers are one the biggest things I hate and there are quiet a few that day, like most holidays. I know I shouldn't give a crap, but it's something you don't want to see on your birthday.

    The second thing that drives me insane is everyone thinking because it's your birthday that everyone along with their grandmother and/or dog has to be part of it. Sure it's fun as a kid, but when you are older, it loses it's charm fast and it feels like everyone is a huge burden. Sure there are presents but so flipin' what? I lost all caring for what I got when I was 18 years old. I feel like it's a waste of time for anyone to get me anything unless it's something I cannot afford to get myself.

    While this was belated on my part as well. Thanks.

    Keyword: Mostly. Unless you are me. I just in general look at my own birthday like Valentines Day. It's one of those things where you just don't care if others celebrate it. Besides, my boyfriend is quiet a few states away for one and secondly, it's like a really hard punch in the gut. You just hate it and it doesn't go away for a while, or at least the whole day. It's one for those things where I'm happier once it's over.

    I get why you dislike your birthday, what I don't get is why you talked about it. To me it seems like you were fishing for attention, but I may be wrong.

    I'm not certain sometimes why I bother speaking about it either. Maybe I do want the attention, or maybe I just felt like venting. It's one of those things where I just don't know what my own brain is thinking or what I am intending. I do sometimes find myself second guess things I say, most times long after I've said them. I can sometimes be a enigma to myself.
