Littlest Pet Shop - Mini Review

This was originally something I was about to post in the "What are you watching right now?" thread, but I got a bit carried away and it became more of a review, so I figured it'd be better to make it its own thing.
Frost's mini review of LPS
I've been meaning to give it a try and today I did, now I'm on episode 12. Honestly, it's not that great and I definitely wouldn't consider myself a fan of it. The dialogue is corny, the situations contrived and the morals cliche. It's far more your average saturday morning cartoon fare than MLP, but slightly more refined than say, Johnny Test. I probably wouldn't watch it I had anything better in mind. However, it does have some redeeming qualities I find charming, mostly the songs and the art.
Blythe (the main character) is a talented and aspiring fashion designer, and this seems to spill out into the art of the show. Everything seems well put together, the colors match and pop... the overall effect is rather aesthetically pleasing, even if the character designs are simple and "meh." The songs are brilliant of course, being composed by Daniel Ingram - I find that I'm practically addicted to the ten second opening song.
As for the characters, I like both Blythe and Russel the best, as they each reflect two opposing parts of my own personality...the former being both artsy and scatter-brained and the latter being very serious and orderly.
I also find that I really like the Biskit twins, partly because whilst they're twins that seem to understand each other on an almost subliminal level, they're color-coded opposites in appearance; and also because that while they are considered the "mean girls" of the show that alienate everyone else with their attitudes, in truth they prolly only alienate others because they are so close that it would be hard for anyone else to really mesh with them... and because they're stupid rich - although neither of which is their fault. So they became aloof and exclusive almost as a survival tactic due to their circumstances, but if given the chance they seem like they could be perfectly nice. I pity them a bit, but I also can relate to their situation and subsequent attitude in a lot of ways.
Zoey...she looks like Twilight Sparkle but acts like Rarity, but isn't as appealing as either. I like her character, but I don't share the same fascination that many of the fans have. The mongoose can be pretty funny too, although I cannot stand Vinny, the lizard. He seems like a pointless character that is more awkward and annoying than anything else. Penny and Pepper are pretty "meh." Minka is right on the edge of the 'overly-annoying cliff' and reminds me of a less charming, more hyperactive version of Pinkie Pie, and I've never really withheld my disdain for her. She would probably take the top spot as my least favorite character if it wasn't for the lizard.
So, even though I will never enjoy it as much as MLP and certain parts find me going "eugh", it's charming and entertaining enough that I'll prolly keep watching.
