NY Comic Con '13: Part 1 - Crowds and Cosplay

Hey guys, so as some of you may know, I attended the New York Comic Con this last weekend, and I've decided to make a blog post to share what it was like with you guys.
*Note: This is going to be pretty picture heavy. Like 100+ pictures heavy. Since I'm only allowed 15 pictures per blog post, this is probably going to be made into a 5 blog post series. Or something like that.
So, I went with my best friend Corey who is also into geeky stuff, albeit different geeky stuff than I am. My areas of interest mostly settle around anime, manga and cartoons; whereas he's more into the traditional comic book superheroes and shows like the Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. So it was kind of like a constant tug-of-war for what we went to see when lol. But since I was the one taking pictures, most of this stuff will be anime, pony, cartoony stuff and cosplay related.
I ordered the tickets in May, the minute they went on sale. Initially we were going to drive down there every day since the Jacob-Javitz center is about an hour away from our houses, but he has an uncle who lives 10 minutes from the center who was nice enough to let us stay with him for the weekend. When we got to the ferry to cross the river into the city, we were already seeing multiple people dressed in their cosplay best, and when we got off the ferry, we were swarmed. There was a line of people lined up around the block to get into the center, but it probably took us only 10 minutes to get in.
I think the NYCC organizers estimated around 150,000 people would attend the event over the course of three days...I dunno how many there were, but there were A LOT.
So as you can see, people...people everywhere. The convention center is 3 floors, and each floor is HUGE. And it was like this EVERYWHERE. You could probably see everything there is to see (minus panels, screenings, etc.) in a day if no one else was there, but spending so much time working your way through the crowds made 3 days just barely enough. The Lobby, Day 2
Main Panel hallway
The Lobby, Day 3
Now, as I mentioned before, there were a lot of cosplayers there. A lot. And a lot of them were really good. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of MLP cosplay, but there was quite a bit of it there, although most of it was pretty so-so compared to all the anime and superhero stuff we saw.
There was an enourmous amount of people there dressed as Attack on Titan characters, not surprising as it's the hottest anime show this year and you can buy the entire getup for a couple hundred online.
Bioshock Infinite
Kickass and Night B*tch
Madoka Magica
Pool Party (Pretty sure there's one of these at every convention lol)
Batman Beyond
This guy was hugely popular, he said he was 'Quail Man.' Never heard of it, but apparently a lot of other people have.
And that's just a small fraction of the amazing cosplay we saw. I have a lot more pictures, but my phone decided that the rest didn't deserve good quality. -_-"
There was also a cosplay contest there, but we didn't get in early enough to get to see it. We did however get to see all the cosplayers lining up outside the room to await their chance to walk up on stage, but since it was kinda dark in that hallway non of those pictures turned out very well.
...And of course, we had to get in on the some of the photo action ourselves. (I'm not including all the pictures I took with my friend in them, because I won't post them without his permission and I doubt he'd give me permission to post them on an MLP related site. *shrug*
A bunch of Elizabeths from Bioshock Infinite
Panty and Stocking
(unfortunately these girls had pretty much the same stuck up attitude the characters on the show did. I'll be nice and just say they were in character...)
A very awesome Yoko Littner
Alrighty, well I'm going to have to end this here because it's late, but I'll be posting part 2 and maybe part 3 tomorrow so stay tuned for more!
