So, what was there to see? Every thing geek/fandom you could possibly imagine, for the most part. The vendors area was probably as big as two football fields and there were booths for EVERYTHING. Major production companies for anime, TV, books? Check. Toy, collectible, comic vendors? Check. Booths selling custom art prints? Check. Dance dance revolution on a stage? Check. An area where you can play video games with 15 other people on giant monitors? Check. Booths where you can buy artwork from famous people in the comic book industry and get it signed while you're at it? Check. Booths selling boxes upon boxes of hentai? ...Check.
Yeah, they had pretty much everything.
You probably don't know this, but I'm a big fan of figures, especially PVC anime figures. I only have 2 (which, coincidentally, I bought at this convention) but nevertheless, I think they're way cool. And boy was there no shortage of them at the con.
These little guys were at almost every toy booth in the anime section of the con. They're called Nendroids and they are tiny 2-3 inch chibi figures. (small bodies, big heads) that go for $8-12 a pop.
Yes, pony too...
They also had some really intricate and expensive figures there, like these Iron Man suits. By the way, these are made from almost entirely die-cast metal parts and the SMALLER ones went for $610.
There was also a booth set up by the Good Smile Company, which makes like 90% of anime figures, and definitely make all the best quality ones. They were showcasing new figures for 2014 that aren't even available for pre-order yet. And they are definitely the next generation of collectible figures, the intricate detail on these was astounding.
They also had a lot of retro toys for sale, such as the power rangers you see up there, Ninja Turtle toys, etc.
But those are just figures, which barely scratches the surface of crazy/awesome/cool/weird merch they had available, which is what my next post in this series will be about. ^.^
So stay tuned for more!
