Of Gods and Evolution

There are just as many different concepts of gods, goddesses and higher powers as there are people. Why? Because each person has their own view of the same subject. Even if a billion people belong to a single religion, each person will have a differing image of what their god may look like.
My image of god, you ask? My image is none less than myself. I am not a religious or spiritual person, and if you had known I am an atheist before reading this you may have expected me to say that I have no image of god. A god is something unseen that controls all, creates all and is all. What controls me is my mind, what creates my work is my mind, and what I am is my mind. My mind is me and therefore my god is me.
It is said that since humans cannot create something out of nothing, they cannot be gods. So where does emotion come from? It comes from the brain, of course, which is a physical item. But if we take the brain of a human and place it upon a table, still fresh and undamaged, we cannot completely see where the emotions of the person once came from. It is the chemicals in our brain and how they react that we ourselves to. Life itself is just a giant chemical reaction, one could say.
But what do we owe these chemical reactions to? How are our thoughts created? Evolution, of course. It is evolution that has created us what we are today, and it is evolution that is allowing me to question life itself. Evolution has chosen every detail and fibre of your being, from how tall you are right down to how many cells make up your fingernails.
So what causes evolution? Religions tend to stop questioning here, answering by saying that a god or higher power has caused evolution. I must agree with them here, yet I am not contradicting myself by saying so. As I explained earlier, I believe that every creature is its own god. Now I am saying that evolution is caused by a god.
So now who caused evolution?
Why, living creatures, of course- Us. All that have lived, all that will live, and all that are living have aided in evolution one way or another. Once upon a time, the fish's mind told him he needed to crawl out of water to eat. So the fish grew legs and learnt to walk, eating freely and growing strong. Next, the fish's mind dictated to him that he was to learn to hunt and catch larger prey. So the fish learnt to hunt.
Who decided what the fish did? Why himself, of course; driven out of need. Something unseen in the fish's mind controlled him, created thoughts for him and made him who he was. His thoughts and needs caused him to evolve and become better and more suited to his environment. The fish- a god - evolved.
So now we have reached the conclusion that gods are able to evolve. We can see this through world religions and how they have changed through the ages to adapt to the changing needs of people. Though, if you lack a religion, how are you to gain any kind of faith? The answer is simple- Evolve yourself. Improve yourself because you are a god.
