Rant of the week #11~!

I never had sex ed at all at my dudes-only high school. We did learn about puberty in intermediate school but no sex ed at all :I.

We have education on the reproduction system yes, it's not the teachers that are the problem at all, it's the immature students.

Personally, while I do get urges, I am rather shy when discussing the matter of Sex in public, I'm not sure why, because I'm fine with studying the reproduction system at home and I'm perfectly fine with the scientific part of the studies, but, the fact that later in the years the school shows us, well basically it's a sex tape to show us visually, it makes me regret ever progressing a year because I do not want to be watching a sex tape with an entire class of teenagers.

I think that schools shouldn't even have sex ed. People should find out when they're ready in their own time.

Well in my opinion as an outsider i always had the feeling americans are very prude.

For me and my friends its totally okay to talk about sex and everything around it, we talk about different experiences we made to inform the others. The sex ed in school is very good here in germany. You learn about contraceptives and when i was young they devided the class in male and female and got the groups in different rooms, so that no one has to be shy (because the other sex is always the heaviest reason to be shy in sex ed) and we got to practice how to put a condom on (you know with bananas and stuff xD ).

We also went to an university to listen to a prof talking about sexually transmitted diseases and they gave condoms to everyone. (the most part of the class were around 16 just a little part was already 17)

PArents here are happy when their children learn about contraceptives and stuff. If kids want to have sex they will have it and it least it should be save.

I'm gonna go into a detailed post for some reason.

In America, it seems like talking about sex is a universal taboo. You aren't allowed to talk about sex in school, you aren't allowed to talk about sex pretty much anywhere to anyone. The one key exclusive to this, however, is when someone says 'Aw man, I just ****** some chick last night, it was awesome' and they get respect for it.

What I don't understand is why men are praised for having sex with people, but women are called *****s. (The W word for those unaware.)

It seems that whenever men have sex with multiple women, it's like a badge of honour. They're praised as a 'ladies man' and never get any social flak, even when the guy is in a relationship with someone else.

It's the complete opposite for women. It's just 'What a *****!' or 'Don't go near this ****.' Why are women treated so differently? Is it because they're held to a higher standard then men? This is crude.

Sexual education is not mandatory in Texas, but it should be. Our dropout rate is one of the highest in the United States; 82% of dropouts are pregnancy related. 90% of those dropouts are women.

I've seen at least 30 pregnant women at school, all of them classmates of mine. It's unsettling to know that these women had unprotected sex before they were 18, which significantly reduces survival chances at childbirth.

The worst part is, most of these women are 16. The legal age in Texas is 17. Not only is it unethical, whoever had sex with them just broke the law; and the worst part about that is: Schools do literally nothing about it.

They never ask any questions if the child is below 17. They're just like 'Oh, you're pregnant? Stay in school!'. It makes me severely angry.

Children nowadays need to learn discipline and respect. We lack so much of it. People call us the 'New Generation' or whatever, but there isn't much hope if all we have are a bunch of dropout nobodies.

Social standards need to be completely and utterly eliminated. They allow for strict stereotypes for little to no reason, and it pains me to see good people have to drop out of school and ruin their whole lives by having sex without a condom.

I, personally, do not think that age should be an issue when it comes to sex as well. If I would have it my way, when you reached puberty, you'd be legal. I recall a case in Law class where an 18 year old senior in high-school had (consentual) safe sex with his 15 year old girlfriend. Both parents of both families approved of their relationship and said that they wouldn't mind them having sex so long as it was safe and the girl didn't get pregnant.

Well, someone found out about them having sex and reported them to the authorities; The man was slapped with statuatory rape and is now labelled a sex offender for the rest of his life.

This doesn't make any sense to me. Why would that be an issue for someone who clearly loves each other?

Age limits should be removed and instead just universally put to 'After puberty'.

Anyone under 13 would be strictly paedophilic. This is just my personal opinion, however.

Sex certainly seems to be a taboo topic here in the U.S., but we're a lot more relaxed about discussing it than we used to be. I had sex education in both middle school and high school. I thought they both were actually pretty decent. They covered a lot of different contraceptives, talked about which were most effective both in preventing pregnancies and STD's, talked about how combining some of them can decrease the chances of pregnancy slightly more, and talked about various STD's. The high school one also briefly touched upon how to apply a condom. Oh yeah, both were mandatory to our education.

I respectfully disagree with your statement about the conservative teachers due to its being a generalization. I'm taking health at the moment and my teacher has been very neutral in his approach, not taking any side and presenting all possibilities.

As for sex itself, it's a bit of a touchy area for some people for understandable reasons. It's a moment between two (or more) people where they are at their most vulnerable. When these people shed their clothes, they also shed their safety nets and in conjunction they're forced to do the same for their insecurities.

I don't feel like writing an entire essay on the topic, so I'll end it with this:
Men are villified as players for playing games.
Women are villified as ****s for not.

Your not allowed to talk about condoms in America? That's silly.

My sex-ed classes was all about condoms: how to use them, other forms of contraception, what condoms prevent (alongside some cool pictures).

As for why men get praised for having sex whereas women don't, here's an analogy I heard:

It's stupid, yet suprisingly accurate.

We had sex-ed in 8th grade. It talked NOTHING of actual contraception and the like. It spoke of what happens to the fetus during pregnancy. That's pretty damn useless to know, and that should have been in Biology.

In our sex-ed (actually, we just finished this unit last friday, but it was all repeats of 8th grade), we just learned how stuff worked. Now that I think of it, condoms have been mentioned once: "Safe sex involves use with a condom." That was it. Nothing about using it, nothing about what it did, just that it was considered safe.

For all the people who don't spend their lives on the internet, I wonder what they think about them? Even my group of friends has never discussed the topic. Bringing up condoms is like bringing up religion, you just don't do it.
