Single and oh so totally unprepared for any mingling. I NEEDZ ADVICE

My girlfriend liked another guy. I knew it. She refused to tell me, but I could see she wanted to be with him. A few days ago, I told her "Look. If being with him makes you happy, I'll manage. You aren't my property. So if you wish, go."
She did, after hugging me one last time, thanking me profusely. I swore to her we'd still be friends. I guess it's just gonna be hard seeing her every day.
Any advice?

    That was really selfless of you.

    I would maybe just stay away for a while. Take some time to adjust. That being said, don't avoid her. Otherwise, she'll feel absolutely terrible. Just don't seek her out. It'll be harder for both of you.

    I don't have much past experience when it comes to relationships like that.. But I hope I kinda helped.

    My advice? Try to not keep this a barrier between friendship. Still, you must be aware that some people may betray you, and trust can never be rebuild, and sometimes, should not be rebuild to maximum. Just keep that in mind if she, for any reason, comes back to you for another relationship.

    It was good that you noticed that she didn't love you anymore, and things didn't tumble into a mess. That was a smart move on your part.

    Judgmental ones are the last one you should turn to or listen to for that matter for those who are ignorant of how people's minds work.

    Try not to force yourself to be a different person in the wake of this. This is something you'll need to make sense of and in my experience, that's a mix between taking some time off to think about it and reflect and talking to other people about. Funny thing is, when you talk about it, reflection kinda happens much quicker and more effectively, to the point it might seem to them that you already know what's going on and how to get over it. Don't know if you've experienced that already.

    Thanks. I gave a repeat of the speech made by Gaara about wanting to belong...to be a part of something. It hit her hard, and it wasn't even directed at her. If anything, this is a sign for me to mature...be something for once in my life. So maybe girls don't matter. Maybe I should be the only thing on my mind. But I'm not entirely sure that's how she wants me to be.
