Some Things Are Hard to Talk About With Bronies

Is it just me, or are there certain things that feel awkward to talk about with other bronies? Nothing serious, just some things that seem...taboo? Like whenever I mention that I don't much like The Living Tombstone, the looks I receive make me feel like I had just come out as a brony again to non-bronies. >_> Similarly, when I say I haven't seen X video series or read Y fanfic. It's like being ostracized for not being into the fandom enough. xD

Don't worry, I'm not being all whiny and down on myself. Simply musing, really.

    It's not that you're not in the fandom enough, it's more that you have different opinions/interests to other people, so they will think that you're strange. All humans forget that people can have different opinions every once in a while.

    Also, I don't like Tombstone a whole lot either.

    I hate dubstep, so like a quarter of all bronies hate me (isn't there supposed to be a code against that?). I'm a metalhead, so to some other bronies that mean's I'm automatically a satanist (really? I'm not though). And so I can't even talk to some bronies. And I'm not big into the fan-fiction yet, so you're not alone there.

    Yeah, I've noticed this, not just with people who like MLP, but with nearly every single person I've encountered in first-world cultures. Because entertainment is such a huge part of our lives, it's what we love and it's what we get defensive about. It's what we're passionate about. I told my friend two days ago that I didn't like his music, and he immediately insisted that I "hadn't listened to enough of it" and it was "out of character for me to be so judgmental." Honestly, what does it really matter. I didn't like what I heard, and voiced my unpopular opinion. I don't much care what other people like, and would rather that they feel the same.

    But no, some people are fixated on "converting" others to their religious fixation on one source of casual entertainment.

    That's because of their attachment to their preferences. If they see you as putting down what they like, they see you as putting them down. That connection is what makes people prone to taking things personally. Those who are brazen in their expression will see the worst of it.

    I didn't even know who The Living Tombstone was until I watched that brony documentary.:sigh:
