Storms and Power Outages

Thought I would write another blog entry just because it's been a while. Also relevant is hurricane Sandy which is about to hit me.

I've had the worst of luck when it comes to storms as of recent. Within the last year or two I've lost power about four times. And never before. I've lived in this house for about 14 years and never had a problem.
Last year my house was practically hit by lightning, frying pretty much everything. It was in the dead of summer and my AC was blown out along with my internet and power. While the power was fixed within a week, my AC and internet were lost for about a month :<

It was the hottest summer I'd ever dealt with lol. I'm used to being spoiled with cool temperatures, but not that summer. Also, I had just been promoted to staff at the time and had to moderate. Not having internet made that quite a challenge. I got creative in using my phone for staying on chat rooms and driving down to a friends house to piggyback off his wifi while hiding in my car lol.

Another more recent time was last summer. There was another storm and it knocked out all the power in my neighborhood for a good week and a half. It was pretty hot but we had a generator to keep the freezer running and such. As well as my laptop. But it always rained and it was really dark the entire time. Many candles were slain.

I really hope the hurricane doesn't knock out my power this time :< I just got my Wii working with all my old Gamecube games and would hate to have them gone again x3 I also need my computer for homework so that would be a nuisance.

    Lucky. All five of my gamecubes are broken. I guess I should be happy the jury rig lasted as long as it did. Max hours on PSO probably did it in.
    Sounds like you have bad luck. Definitely know that feel with stealing wifi right now.

    Well... I'm kind of using a modded wii... but yeah lol
    I have two broken gamecubes.

    Man. I do hope Hurricane Sandy doesn't knock out your power. She almost hit us down here in the South. Heck, losing power is like a tradition here on the southeastern coast; we lose power at least once a year due to thunderstorms and/or hurricanes. It's kind of fun, for me anyways. I guess I'm just used to the heat and I like not having to rely on electricity, at least for a day or two. But anyways, I wish you the best of luck weathering that storm. Kyrie eleison.

    Bwahaha, Gamecubes break easy, but I know how ta fix 'em.

    Unless you actually physically broke it...then no.

    Well while I have boring weather where I'm from, at least we don't have freak weather like that.

    Anyway, good luck for the upcoming hurricane. Hopefully nothing too bad will happen to you.

    And remember, if you want to protect your house from the hurricane, cover it with rocks. Flying-type moves have little effect on rock-types.

    Good luck facing this storm!

    Don't worry about power outages so much. We get them at my parent's house a few times every summer. We had a week-long outage this last summer, and it was tough, but we made it. Actually, it gave my everyday activities a lot of perspective; what did people do before electrical systems for fun? I found out.

    Im watching the news right now and new york is getting batterd by water its just plan awful!
