There's a thread for this so there is no need to create a blog post about the same thing
This is what i've always done, this is what i'm always going to do.
I haven't seen the original thread, and don't know what was said there, so I'll just add my rambling here. Ultimately it's up to the shows creators and writers eh? I was hoping she'd return in season 4 though, in fact I really thought it was going to turn out to be her in castle mane-ia. I was even kinda hoping she'd come back as a regular / semi-regular character, with Twilight moving on to bigger and better things, Trixie would fill that spot pretty well I think. She'd help in keeping things even (two earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns), as well as providing a way to return to the original root story of what the show was about. Her personality would also provide a good contradiction to the mane six, with her ego getting her into trouble, as the others try to teach her what it means to be a good friend. I can even seeing her "reporting" to Twilight, in the same way Twilight did to Celestia ... in her own Trixie way of course. Obviously there are a number of inherent problems with all that however. How would she fit in with the elements (though they could make it work in a number of good ways, I don't think she'd need to anymore the spike dose), there'd also be a feeling of been there done that, and the writers may be wanting the show to move in a bit of a different direction now. Also there's Discord, who is pretty much already filling the role that Trixie then would, and just how many reformed villains can you have before it becomes cliché? Honestly though I find Trixie much more relatable, Discord is fun to watch and all, but being so powerful makes him hard to relate to. Trixie is pretty much the quintessential bully, I think we've all known or have been a Trixie at some point in our lives. Seeing as how it remains a prevalent issue for most teens, and unfortunately many adults, continuing to shed light on both sides of the subject would be a good thing. In the end this was all just my mental meandering / rambling/ head-cannon/ whatever ... I've never been good with fandom colloquialisms. To get back on topic, while I honestly highly doubt they'll make her a regular, I do see her returning in more then just a cameo appearance. She has a pretty big fan base, and the writers have been good at listening to the community and giving nods where appropriate. They could easily make an episode where she tries to make amends for the havoc she caused Ponyville as well the the six, in her quest to reform. While her last episode did have a resolution feeling to it, I think she remains an interesting character who's story isn't quite done.
