Really? I don't see the hate, I read a CYOA fic and it got lots of love.

Hm... it's probably because most of them aren't very good and are just personal fulfillment stories. One bad apple spoils the bunch, you know? If people are instantly saying it's bad just because it's a certain genre, then they're the ones at fault for holding a biased opinion. Some of them really are very nice, but get thrown away with the crap, like Ikaruga with the Gamecube.

I really think that most of the hate has really died down in the recent months, but there is still a good amount of nasty comments about HiE stories floating around.

I'm not a huge fan of HiE fics myself (because of the aforementioned wish-fulfilment aspect), but I'm of the belief that one particular genre shouldn't be reviled any more than any others.

Sturgeon's Law says that 90% of everything is crap, so if a majority of HiE fics are badly written, than it stands to reason that a majority of other genres are just as bad.

Overall, I agree with Alias North on every point. Every genre should get a fair shake in in the fanfiction community.

Everyone has his own personal likes and dislikes. If someone dislikes humans in Equestria stories, i'm not about to argue with them about it. And if someone tells me i'm dead wrong for liking something they don't, i tend to just ignore it and move on. :derpe:

I'm not going to step on peoples reasons for disliking HiEs, but its not understandable just to hate in only because its a HiE. If you don't read the story you won't know if it's any good. That's the part I really dislike about this.

I don't see why everyone hates human in Equestria stories so much several of both the stories I write are about me being in Equestria and several of the stories that I read also fit into that catergory I don't see what everybody's deal is?

I don't really see the appeal in those kind of stories. Not that I hate them, I just don't get it.

Well, it's usually self-fullfillment of a personal fantasy. There usually isn't any original plot and the concept it almost always over done. Brony comes to Equestria in time of need, saves the land alongside the Mane 6. Or in the...ugh, more mature works, brony comes to Equestria and hooks up with their favorite pon[y(ies)]. Most times human if that pony is Lyra...

It's psychology really. Since it's exactly what the author wants, they're rarely able to discern the quality of the work. Obvious sign of a new author that just needs more experience, so all the generic hate doesn't help them.
