Finally. Someone who understands me easily the MGS series hands down. Never found those older "Classic" games the best, such as Mario or Zelda. Absolutely no appeal to me.
Catagorized: Best: The Elder Scrolls. It's awesome since once you get bored, You can install mods and extend the gameplay. :3 There's also a Giant lore behind all of it. And thats cool if you fancy history like me. I also love the freedom in those games. Most Overhyped: Call of Duty... I liked it long ago, but ever since Modern Warfare, They just get Mass-produced. Why buy MW 3 when you got a perfectly fine MW 2. Won't notice the €60 of difference anyways. Worst: Well, most JRPG's. I'm simply Not really a fan of JRPG's.
@Morrowwind: how did I know that you were going to say Elder Scrolls Seriously though, Elder Scrolls has never really appealed to me. I played Oblivion and really didn't enjoy it :\ Morrowwind was the same. I don't know what it is, but something about the games just throws me off.
Jeez, Perhaps your Psychic? Only explanation! Anyways, Perhaps your preference goes towards somewhat more arcadish games? Since these games need to be played correctly. This friend of mine just rushes through the mainquest, Ignoring the actual content that matters. That's no fun way to play at all... Well, I like how you've at least tried Morrowind. Some people get scared by the Graphics. >.<
I've only played the first 2. Although graphically stale, It was something really great, perhaps because I was looking at it from the perspective of the developer, and seeing it as something I could quite easily make myself. The randomly generated environments were a really great feature. Although I like RPGs, I don't tend to play them much. Probably because I like to play games with greater required thought process like RTSs (I love strategy!)
My favourite game series is Fire Emblem. It's a really fun strategy series where you have to meet characters and when they die, their gone, forever, so you really need to be careful with your characters.
For Gameboy, it'd be Advance Wars. For PS3, it's a tie between Assassin's Creed and The Elder Scrolls. For Wii, Gamecube, and all before them, it's Zelda. Hands down. No debating. Zelda is one of the only good things about the Wii. Excuse me as I jump. THYAA
Man, this is a hard choice. My favourite video-game series overall? I love the Sonic the Hedgehog series, particularly the classics and the most recent games. Considering one of the first games I ever played was one of the classic games (even if I never did finish it until many years later...), I have a real soft spot for that series. I'm glad the past few games have restored it's reputation by being, well, awesome. Other than that, well, even though I only got into the series with Twilight Princess (pretty late to the bandwagon I guess ), Zelda is probably my favourite Nintendo series--even though I've only really played later games in the series rather than the earlier ones. Hoping to change that when I get a 3DS and hopefully OoT3D. I also really love Kirby. He's awesome. Eh, can't really think of any others. As you can probably tell, I'm mostly a platformer/RPG kind of guy. If I had one of the HD consoles instead of just the Wii, or maybe a computer that could play games...oh well... I'm saving up for a 360 tho'. Must...be...patient...
Either the Sonic series or the Pokemon series. ^^ I don't have many games though. Oh, and Scribblenauts is good too.
hard to decide, seeing that some series tend to get tossed back and forth between consoles but I would have to say resident evil.
Counter Strike. :Trollestia: Without it, none of the modern FPS's would be here. CS / Quake 3 Arena / UT2003/2004 / Doom / Blah blah blah...
Elder Scrolls... Did I mention that I like Skyrim? Oh, and the Professor Layton Series. I love that puzzle game series.
^Indeed it is. The Fallout series starting with Fallout 3 is good as well, but that's because the basic makeup is similar to Oblivion.
