The genres of music I typically listen to are alternative, rock, punk and metal. I dislike today's pop music, but I like 90's pop. I also don't particularly care for country, hip hop or rap. However, I find myself liking some tracks on EPR only because it was ponified. Had it not been for ponies, I would dislike them. Some of the bands/artists I listen to include, but are not limited to: (In alphabetical order) 3 Doors Down Alice in Chains Beck Billy Joel Breaking Benjamin Bush Depeche Mode Fleetwood Mac Goo Goo Dolls Green Day Incubus Kings of Leon Korn Metallica Muse Nickelback Nine Inch Nails Nirvana Pearl Jam Puddle of Mudd R.E.M. Rise Against Scars on Broadway Seether Serj Tankian Shinedown Smashing Pumpkins Staind Stone Temple Pilots System of a Down The Cure The Offspring U2 Weezer Weird Al Yankovic I apologize if this list is too extensive. I don't listen to all these equally though. Green Day, for example, is my favorite out of all of these. I can't even think of a Top 5 because it varies so often depending on the mood I'm in. Oh, and one more thing before I end this post. I'm normally not big on jazz, but thanks to The Weather Channel (yes, you read that correctly), I actually like some of it. Thanks to TWC, jazz and weather seem to hand-in-hand so to speak. In other words, I like TWC music. Kudos to anyone that knows where my cutie mark is from. For those that don't know, it's from The Weather Channel's WeatherSTAR 4,000. It's the icon for "Thunder." I would've used the one for "Thunderstorm," but the rainfall is animated so I didn't think it was appropriate. Spoiler: WeatherSTAR 4,000 Here's an example of an emulation of the WeatherSTAR 4,000. It features one of my personal favorite TWC songs; "Homeward Bound" by Patrick O'Hearn. This is how local forecasts used to appear for me back in the 90's. These days I'm primarily a metal-head. There's almost no type of metal I don't like! I say 'almost', because the only type of metal that comes to mind that I could never really get in to is black metal. Some of the metal I listen to is: - Thrash (Kreator, Slayer, Megadeth, eXodus) - Death (Vader, Morbid Angel, Nile) - Melodic Death (At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Amon Amarth) - Heavy/Speed (Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden) - Viking/Folk (Tyr, Korpiklaani, Ensiferum) There are more bands that fit into that, those are just some examples.
I'm one of those "almost anything" guys. I don't much care of country and western, probably because I grew up listening to nothing but. Although some songs I still like - Johnny Ringo, and Ghost Riders in the Sky, for example. Not too much rap and hip-hop, although there are some bands (yes, Gorillaz, of course), and I like instrumental for when I write, and some of the "weird" bands - Art of Noise, They Might Be Giants, for example. Just as I found this thread, I was listening to some music from my tai chi videos - not sure what it's called. Oh, and opera. I love opera. Have a weird story involving "Madame Butterfly" and my first cruise, in fact. Oddly enough, I've only been to two concerts in my life. Mostly because I never have the money, but also because concerts are kind of unpleasant, in some ways. Skydancer 1993 - I had to laugh at your "all metal but black." My wife loves that kind! When the upstairs neighbors play their music too loud, she just breaks out some Merciful Fate or King Diamond, and they get the idea and turn their music down!
Dubstep, HardCore, Happy HardCore, Trance, Gabber, Dance, House, Glitch, HardStyle, Etc. Example of HardStyle:
Rock, Rap (Serbian, American and English one sucks in general), Classical, and Comedy. All those are great.
Me, i like every kind of music, except rap and r'n'b... But i prefer metal, especially progressif, symphonic and viking/folk.
I personally have an undying love for concert music/classical. It's my band nerd soul. I'm also really into easy listening and swing! I have an undying love for Sammy Davis Jr.
I think classical is one of the most emotional types of music for some reason. Do you have a favourite composer?
