Just got it today (a day early) and had to say: If FF XIII dissapointed you, play this. If you FF XIII enjoyable, play this. It's basically what XIII should have been, 10x better in almost every aspect (I was a fan of XIII but I admit it had its flaws..). Anyone got it/getting it? - Spoiler tags for spoilers if you mention details!
I know from the previews I really liked what I saw. I still haven't finished FF XIII yet though. I'm almost finished with it and I'm sure I could beat the game right now. Unfortunately I am an achievement freak and I'm trying to get all of the missions done with top ratings first. Also I don't have any money to buy FF XIII-2. Even if I had $5000 I'd have to get my mortgage caught up, get more furnature and products for my store and get those cute Fluttershy and CMC toys I saw at Target first.
I still need to complete the first one, and I got that not long after release. I got stuck on one of the Eidolons (I think it was Sazh's). :I The game was good, but way too linear for me, I really need to complete it before I get the second one. Personally, the best FF is FF III. That was a great game.
I very much enjoyed the story from FFXIII, but I did not like the battle system at all. In FF12, the battles got fun after you got about half way through the game. So I kept waiting for the battles to become fun in FFXIII, but it never did. =( As for FFXIII-2, from what I've seen in previews, the battle system is very similar. I'm questioning whether or not to get it, as the story looks good. I'm just afraid that the battles are going to be another big disappointment. What's your opinion on the battle system?
final fantasy was good and all when it started but i cant say i fully enjoyed the newer games, the story plots are way to similar to each other and its always about saving human kind and killing some demi god lvl bad guy and while the combat system is awesome and all ((always enjoyed one or two turn based games)) it gets boring to soon, to fast, and the story's are nearly always far stretched then they possibly should be (( ff7 was epic cause it had a good story and wasn't over complected and was compact into a single disk these new ff games now are so into itself and with characters and twist that i cant even tell you what the story was about, on a side note Lighting was a huge B**ch edit: this is a post from my idiot brother who was probably just trolling while i was away from my laptop, keeping this the way it is now just for fun and a good laugh
Sepiroth is in all but name as good as a demi god/demon - and oh surprise surprise he's trying to destroy the world (and humanity along with it). It was also originally released on 3 discs actually not one, ff xiii-2 is the first I know of to be compacted into 1 (or ff xiii on ps3). Don't get me wrong I ain't trashing 7, I'm just a little sick of people who call every sequel crap just because it doesn't 100% emulate it. The battle system is fantastic, it really blurs the line between real timd and atb combat - I can't fault it, it's just a little hard to master/get to grips with. Afaik that has always been a largely approved part of xiii, but I can see why you might initially find it a little daunting. XIII cuts down on the linear, there's still no world map but the areas are nice and expansive - you travel to each one through time gates (and can often visit the same place in different times). You only have two party members (who can learn all 6 roles) so I find it a lot less overwhelming - your third slot is filled with monsters you capture (most enemies are capturable) which is a very interesting twist! tho the game dose seem interesting i.ll point this out, (my idiot of a FF fan brother got on my account while i was away, so that was his post not mine,) just now reading what he posted now and while i cant fully agree what he posted i will say this, the beginning the middle and the end of nearly all FF games plotline are always the same just giving different names and reasons, that and the combat system gets boring halfway threw the story if you dont try adjust the way you play it
