I just got a free 2 week trial of Gamefly and want to use it well, but I can't think of any games to rent. I only play Xbox and I have all halo games, cod, guitar hero, rock band, and skyrim. I just ordered a keyboard for rock band recently so will be playing that too. I already rented GH: Warriors of Rock because I want to re-attempt a Fury of the Storm fc.

    Types of games I like:

    FPSs
    RPGs
    Arcades and classics
    Puzzle/Trivia

    Games I don't like:
    RTS
3rd Person Shooters(GoW is an exception)
    Racing
    Fighter

If your willing to make an exception on both 3rd person shooters and RTS games I can give you two

Fable 2 and Dragon Age are two great RPG's I could suggest
FPS wise I'd suggest the Half Life 2 series
    Puzzle wise. Beautiful Katamari.

Alan Wake is a 3rd person shooter too but it's a wonderful horror survival.

I would highly recommend the Mass Effect trilogy. Though it may be considered a third-person shooter when you look at the combat, it is still essentially an RPG at its core with an engaging story and characters. Even if the ending was a bit disappointing, I still love the series.
You also cannot go wrong with the Orange Box and Portal 2. Both are excellent games, or game collection as far as the Orange Box is concerned, with plenty of game time to enjoy.
There is also Dues Ex: Human Revolution (RPG with shooter elements) and Lost Odyssey (a traditional RPG with an interesting storyline to be told).
No matter what you play though, I hope you have a good time. Have fun!

^ Mass Effect 2 is more of a shooter than an RPG, but the first and third are great RPGs though the first has the most RPG elements, still a great trilogy.

Speaking of survival horrors, the Silent Hill series is one of the best survival horrors I've played.

Final Fantasy XIII and FFXIII-2. The battle system isn't my favorite, but the storylines are great. Although you'd have to play through the first one in order to understand half the stuff happening in the second game.

    Xbox 360? This'll be tricky...

Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas - It's a First Person Shooter RPG! Set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, you have probably heard of this one and so saying anything further is a little pointless, in my experience. Now, I would insist upon the Game of the Year version of Fallout 3 so that you'll get all the necessary DLC for nothing. Providing you get that far into the game. I don't think the Ultimate edition of Fallout: New Vegas has been released for Xbox 360. I don't tend to pay enough attention to what I don't personally own.

Fallout 3 has the better story but Fallout: New Vegas has a much better system for really role-playing a character. Fallout 3's karma system always felt like a man with an omni-present clip board while the Faction system in New Vegas makes more sense to me. Both are good games.

Elder Scrolls VI: Oblivion: This really depends on whether you mind about Graphics and gameplay additions because this is a bit of a step backwards from Skyrim but Oblivion does offer most of the same sort of thing but with a new crisis. It's a solid RPG that is fondly remembered with good reason. It's deep and no two play-throughs are the same. Just be prepared to put up with what they fixed in Skyrim.

Dragon Age: Origins: Another Bioware RPG so you know it's got a good story already. It's combat is easy to pick up and it allows for a diverse number of role-play opportunities. You really can tell people about your character and have them totally different from someone else that has played the same game. It's a very well made game.

Rayman Origins: You said you liked classics? I'm wondering if you ever played the original Rayman on the Playstation? Rayman Origins is essencially the reincarnation of that very game but made far, far better. It's larger, nastier and even more beautiful to see and to listen to. I did find this game extremely tough towards the end, however. You might be able to do better when it sinks it's teeth in hard.

    Hope that helps.

Games that aren’t chosen from the lists above:

Batman Arkham Asylum and its sequel Arkham City: Both great games that went beyond the expectations of a comicbook-based video game. Have nice action, good puzzles and a good story which you hardly find in any other game.

Bioshock 1: A standard FPS at first but has alot of backstory and ideas. Bioshock actually breaks your mind once you finish the second Act of the game by twisting it's own genre. The sequel is not that better but I'm still interested for the third game.

Most people would recommend the Mass Effect series, don't get me wrong, it's a good series with lots of fun and awesomeness... until the end of the third game then you would be passionately disappointed.

Hang on, hang on there JJ! You can't suggest Batman. While I agree both are fantastic games, they're both fighters and Phat Boy Fresh has already said "no" to fighters.

Bioshock, yes definitely. Not the second one though. Mass Effect Series, yes but I can't vouch for the ending and they're probably changing it so Phat Boy might have a different experience to you.

JJ's made sure that his feelings about the ending has been known. On a regular basis. Regardless of whether anyone wanted it or not...

    1. That depends on what kind of fighting game, the 'Street Fighter' kind and/or the 'God of War' kind.
    2. It's part puzzle and I'm not sure if one genre cancels out the other.

    1) I'm assuming both isn't allowed here because there's no qualifier. Batman is a fighting game, partly, so cannot be counted here despite being fantastic.

    2) The Puzzle element is the Riddler Challenges, right? But that part is entirely optional and most can't really be called 'puzzles'. It's more of a glorified scavenger hunt. The riddles just put an extra step into the usual "Collect them all" routine.
