Does anyone here have a TV show they use to love, but it went downhill as it went on? I'd have to say that Family Guy and The Simpsons use to be great shows, but then later they lost what made them so good, both of them trying way too hard to be cool and edgy. It's a shame really.
Where do I begin theres... Family Guy Simpsons Spongebob Squarepants Just to name a few. But yeah pretty much everything goes downhill eventually, just some more (at times a lot lot more) then others. those three have been pretty noticeable imo though. Also agree with TV in general going downhill many networks have degraded over time. But again, stuff like that kind of just...happens, its all cycles, good and bad, and in the end also the perspective of the viewer and their own personal perception & bias, and what not.
I'd say almost all of Discovery's channels have been barreling downhill. I don't know about you guys out in the UK, but it seems all people in the US want to watch are creepy guys living in swamps, and about 13 different gun shows that all serve the same purpose. Honestly. That's science? ...Ugh, it's all monetized television. Nothing educational or having to do with "Discovery" at all... Looking 10 years back? Discovery and related channels were awesome! Can't say the same now.
Watch the science channel.Less guys in swamps. Lets see.... Spongebob... Cartoon network. Disney... and Nick... Oh buck it..television is dead.
- Spongebob Squarepants - Simpsons - South Park - Two and a half men - Yugioh - Pokemon - Most other shows
Agreed, but as said sadly EVERYTHING goes downhill over time. However as we've seen even some of MLP's weaker eps (like Mare-Do-Well) are still pretty entertaining overall. I highly doubt MLP will ever fall as far down as shows like Sponegbob & Simpsons have, but lets knock on wood just in case, lol. *knocks on wood 900 times* Another show I would say that has gown downhill is Clone Wars, it was never that great IMO, but yeah, its just kind not that entertaining, (at least not to me) anymore.
I picked up near the end of season 1 then went back to being crap shortly after season 3 began. With little dots of good in season 2.
-Red Dwarf. Was awesome, turned terrible. -Pokemon. Needs no explanation. G5 is disgusting. All I can think up of at the moment. ..
I would severely disagree with people who say Cartoon Network has gone down Hill, they still have plenty of really good shows such as.. Adventure Time, Regular Show, Thundercats & Young Justice. And they recently revived Cartoon Planet, (an hour long block hosted by Brack & Zorak of Space Ghost Coast To Coast & AS fame.) Which shows reruns of cartoon cartoons from the 90's and 00's. And they still show classics like Tom & Jerry and the old Looney Tunes. I think the only real complaint one can have with CN is that they don't try to get anime a lot anymore, but considering how most modern anime are, I don't blame em. Overall CN is 100X better then Disney & Nick are at the moment, in my opinion any who. But back on topic. Futurama kind of went downhill when it got revived. I mean its still watchable, but it just doesn't have the same feel to it, yea know.
The Simpsons...it's a darn shame. The show was such a big part of my childhood, and now its just gotten so lazy. I personally think Groening cares more about Futurama, which is fine with me acutlly XDD WHUT. I love the new futurama personally.
I agree with you on this. The new episodes I last watched wern't horrible or anything, but they certainly wern't anywhere near as good as the older ones. And on the topic of Matt Groaning's show's, something I have to say about the simpsons: This show along with Family Guy {Yes, I know that Seth Mcfarlane works on this show, not matt} are a prime example of Something that the good folks at TV Tropes like to call a "Cash cow franchise". This is when something get's so popular that the people involved will do anything they can to make money off of it, without giving a flying feather about Quality. Money is all that matters these days with TV. It's almost impressive that both these shows have went on for so long despite the ovbious decline in quality. Not that this is Matt's fault or anything {Didn't he leave the Simpsons a long time ago?}. Spongebob is another example of this as well.
Yeah I hate it when the only reason a show continues is to make money. I mean not all long running shows are that way, there are rare occasions where a show can run a long time and still be pretty dang good. But yeah, those seem to be few and far between these days. Lets hope that if MLP:FIM lasts a long time it can be more like Seinfeld or Doctor Who, and retain its overall quality, and not take a massive decline like Simpsons or what not *knocks on wood 9000 times*
