http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/43485/genndy-tartakovsky-attached-to-3d-popeye-feature/ Hmm, I like Tartkovsky, I like Popeye, this may just turn out to be watchable after all. For those who don't know Tartakovsky is the craetory of Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack & Sym-Bionic Titan.
I sorta liked the old Popeye movie, the one with Robin Williams. Wasn't Tartakovsky planning a Samurai Jack movie?
Not much of a Popeye fan. I did kind of like the hamburger guy though. I'll gladly pay tuesday for a hamburger today!
Hamburger guys name is Whimpy, and yea he's pretty funny. I just hope with Taratkovsky helping with the film its actually decent and not horrible like so many other classic toon reboots (Smurfs, Yogi, etc) have been. Heres hoping *knock on wood*
Video related, my favorite song from the 1980 Popeye movie. The synch is pretty bad though, but I don't care how cruddy it looks.
The way they were singing about food just seemed kind of lazy. As if they weren't at all interested in singing it. The pace never really changed. The song in general served no purpose to the story of the movie. If nothing else, it was filler. :derpe:
Now that I recall, the whole movie was filler. Veering this thread back on topic, I expect that this new film will be animated. I'm curious at how Tartakovsky's style will translate to Popeye's enourmous arms.
