U jelly, PS3/PC owners? :Trollestia: As most of you probably know, the Dawnguard epxansion was recently released for Xbox. What do you think of it? I downloaded it a few hours ago, and while i haven't played it much yet, i kind of like the new features. I do think the whole vampire storyline thing is a bit out of place though. First thing i did was make some Dragonbone weapons, i've been waiting for those since the first time i made Dragonbone armor. I also love how you can actually make your own arrows now. Not being able to make arrows yourself was incredibly annoying before Dawnguard.
Wait you can make your own arrows and Dragonbone weapons? I thought it was just a new storyline...I can't really say much without giving any spoilers, despite the fact I'm very early into it. Spoiler: Spoiler I'm still a bit miffed I had to give up my werewolf powers to be a vampire, and the crossbow made me have too much weight in my inventory... I find it a bit weird how the sacred scriptures of the world aren't actually that rare any more? I upgraded to Dragonbone rather than Daedric on my skill tree, looks like I made a good choice then
There's also a handful of new shouts, but judging from what they do, it kind of looks like they really had to force an idea for new ones. One of the shouts reduces an opponents stamina, another one i know of fills up a soul gem if you have one. There's also a shout that lets you summon an undead dragon, but i don't think it's any different from the shout to summon Odahviing. It's a shame they didn't add a new map like they did in the Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion. I at least hope it's for the next expansion, then. Also, it turns out you need something called Firewood to make arrows. Anyone know where to get it?
They should make Expansions like they did for Oblivion. Two more Expansions and it would be the best game if they added expansions in the style of: -Knights of the Nine -Shivering Isles. I do like Dawnguard for some parts, not others though.
Trees? I actually have an xbox, but I have Skyrim for PC... Sucks to be me eh? I don't know actually, I've got to be honest, while it looks cool, I don't think Dawnguard will live up to things like Bloodmoon and The Shivering Isles.
I just got Dawn Guard a few minutes ago and I must say I have a sword, Daedric Artifact actually, that is just stupid. Dawnbreaker is the name of it.
> Go to Riverwood > There should be a woodcutter's axe and stump there > Use it Firewood's been in the game for a while, it was just used for a small way of making money for players who've just started.
I want it...but i have the PC version....I WANNA KILL VAMPIRES WITH CROSSBOWS AND MY MIGHTY SWORD OF LUNA!
I haven't gotten it yet, seeing as I'm a PS3 guy, but can someone explain why the trailer shows a dragon diving into water? They do that now?
Totally jelly, I can wait though I have been pretty bored of Skyrim lately. Finally being able to craft dragonbone weapons and Fletch arrows FINALLY! I had no idea why they didn't put that in the game to begin with. There are stumps in all kinds of towns, with a wood cutters axe you can chop firewood just like you can mine ore with a pick ax I read you are gonna get a new living place with it's own special perks. @Grey, I totally agree nothing can beat bloodmoon
How could I miss such a mistake but yes Rarit-E is right. It's a sword I have quite taken a fancy to.
I just finished the main storyline on the Dawnguard side. I gotta say i'm a little disappointed... Spoiler: Dawnguard spoilers You just storm the castle, kill some vampires, move into the last room, and kill the main bad guy. Aaaaaand... that's it! Nothing happens after that, you just leave the castle and move on with your other quests. ._. However, Auriel's Bow combined with Sunhallowed Arrows is BOSS!!!
AURIEL'S BOW greatest weapon in Arena! haven't been seen since morrowind I love nostalgia! I am now officially excited
No way. The mod community for Skyrim is awesome and has done some fantastic work. As an example, SkyUI is way more elegant and responsive than the clunky UI that the game comes with. I don't get why people prefer it on the 360. You don't get mods, console controls, hot-keys, or the nice services STEAM provides for game users. Plus, first-person games always control better with a mouse/keyboard set-up (and honestly, who even plays Bethesda games much in the awkward-looking third-person viewpoint, aside from the horse-riding segments?). I wouldn't get the expansion yet anyway. I'm only just over 60 hours into the game and so have a million little things I need to do in the game, discounting the main plot quests I've mostly been ignoring.
every once in a while ill swtich over to thirs person like when menuvering up a moutain or I just wanna watch my charater be awesome I also enjoy doing archery from third person
For those who don't know, once you get inside Soul Cairn, there are also a bunch of sidequests in there, one of which will reward you with a conjuration spell for summoning an undead horse called Avrak. Which reminds me, you can also attack while riding a horse now. Then again, who ever uses a horse in this game? <_<
Those of us that play on 360 play on it because that's what we prefer like how those of you who play on PC play on it becasue that's what you prefer. Pretty much that's all there is to it. I know the only reason I play games like Skyrim on my 360 is because I can not buy a computer good enough to play it, that and I know my computer would not be capabale of handling it. @ Rarit E: Yeah I got that spell as well, now I have both Shadowmere and Arvak, but I know I will hardly use either. Also I know that that sword was in the game from the begining I was just saying how effective it was in the Dawnguard Add-on
There are two reasons why i don't play it on PC: 1) I have to set the game to the lowest possible quality in order to play it properly. if you haven't tried it yet, lowest quality completely removes special effect animations like magic. Or other things like those pillars of light at the College of Winterhold. In some rare cases, it even removes doors or spiderwebs blocking your path, making it look like an invisible wall instead. As a result, mods would make it even worse. 2) On PC, i'm seduced too much by cheats for quicker advancement through the storyline.
Sorry, I finally got a decent gaming PC a few months ago, so perhaps my enthusiasm is running away with me. @ Rarit E: I get your pain. Until recently I had a PC that sucked so badly that it choked while trying to play Half-Life 2.
