First of all, thank you very much. Your constant support means a lot to me.

Second, I'm not really sure. You have to understand, I look at them and see a lot of flaws. I'm constantly trying to make my next poem the best poem I ever wrote. Sometimes they get better, but I always tell myself to work harder. I guess you could say I practice.

I read some of these and found them very enjoyable, I think you're pretty good! I especially loved Concrete Magicians. This is the kind of poetry that really appeals to me, the kind that captures emotions through abstract imagery.

I think poetry is one of the purest expressions of emotion, with the other being dance. I can't dance very well, so I write poetry. It's not about things being good or bad; it's about pouring yourself into words like water into a cup.

    Cool poetry bro!

I cannot write poetry or dance. I don't really thing there is a "purest" way to express oneself. I think maybe everypony has their own way...?

Not that I have a problem with ponies that dance or write poetry.

This is a parody of the song "The Night Chicago Died." I thought it was funny. It's done from the perspective of Twilight during the Season 2 Finale. It was inspired by Prince Darkmoon's thread.

    Title: The Day Canterlot Died

    Lyrics:

    Mommy was a mare
On the west side of Canterlot
    Back in Equestria
    Back when I was young

    On my brother's wedding day
In the land of the two-bit coin
    When Canterlot city died
And the tale keeps going on

    When a mare named Chrysalis
    Made arrangements go amiss
Had her changelings in the town
When the walls were breaking down

    I heard my brother cry
The princess fell the day Canterlot died
Pinkie, what a night it really was
Dashie, what a fight it really was
    No Harmony

    I heard my brother cry
The princess fell the day Canterlot died
Pinkie, what a night the ponies saw
Dashie, what a fight the ponies saw
    Without Harmony

All my friends got up and ran
For out last hope, it seemed
But we ran into a band
Of the changelings of the queen

We were fighting our mirrored selves
For the Elements on the shelves
But there were too many to beat
And they brought on our defeat

    I heard my brother cry
The princess fell the day Canterlot died
Pinkie, what a night it really was
Dashie, what a fight it really was
    No Harmony

    I heard my brother cry
The princess fell the day Canterlot died
Pinkie, what a night the ponies saw
Dashie, what a fight the ponies saw
    Without Harmony

And we thought that all was lost
So we wondered at the cost

Then the magic swept us all
And we saw them standing tall
    My brother and his bride
The queen swept away by the tide

    The day Canterlot died
    The day Canterlot died
Pinkie, what a night the ponies saw
Dashie, what a fight the ponies saw
    True Harmony

    The day Canterlot died
    The day Canterlot died
Pinkie, what a night it really was
Dashie, what a fight it really was
    Love Harmony

This one is also a poem inspired by The Silmarillion.

    Title:
    Fifty Shades of Red

    Poem:

The men of string and bone
Drawn together by calls of love alone
Your natural order is all you know
And in the end, you reap just what you sow

    First children many times disgraced
With your lands and strongholds laid to waste
You armed your sons and bade them serve your lords
Now they die in fire upon your wards

Ruin and destruction on the land
Castles built on fields of sand
    Dragon calls and molten storms
Amidst it all: the sound of horns

    Complete destruction and empty vice
Beyond cold water and grinding ice
"Send forth the fires that run like blood!"
Standing fast as only their fathers could
    Swords rust to ashes
    Dreams burn to dust

Gleam beneath the sky as a star
A king of elder peoples fallen far
On the heels of gods his horse can ride
Swings his ice sword against the tide

The eagles of windy song and grace
Turn to bay and mar the death god's face
"You'll never return to your aerie!
What matters most is that you fear me!"

Stepping forth from his gate; gaze of dread
Answering the cries of living and dead
The dark lord and the king in tales yet unwritten
Swinging hell-hammer; the king falling smitten

    Complete destruction and empty vice
Beyond cold water and grinding ice
"Send forth the fires that run like blood!"
Standing fast as only their fathers could
    Swords rust to ashes
    Dreams burn to dust

So, there are a few different things that inspired this poem, but the biggest is "The Lay of Leithian (Release From Bondage)" by J.R.R. Tolkien, which, in my opinion, is the greatest love story ever told, and is definitely the most epic. I would recommend it to ANYONE.

    Title:
In Darkest Places, Love is Carried by Nightingales

    Poem:

Lonely among the slain and proud
The heir must make his choice.
    Servants of his enemies
Will be made to fear his voice!
    Wandering far to reclaim
    His father's broken land.
    Finding only memories
And his father's ring upon his hand.

He cuts through the webs of deception
    In the valley of death.
Feeling this to be the inception
    Of his final breath.
    He crosses over the border
    Poisoned by his darker dreams,
Until sweetly sung words lift the veil
    And tug upon his seams.

    Beauty far greater than starlight:
    The moon cannot compare.
    Stand dumbstruck in her presence
As she vanishes into the air.
    You searched and searched,
    But all to no avail.
But only call her name and she will dance:
    The sweet Tinuviel.

Love's dreams are made of blossoms
And her dress is made of stone.
If you walk within her shadow
    You will never walk alone.

The command of her father means
A treasure; trading one for one.
There's no returning from the quest
Until the deed has been done.
    Betrayed by the minstrel's word
    His love must stay behind,
But he reads truth within her eyes
And she can read his mind.

    Searching far and wide seeking
Aid from the king of the cave.
He recalls his oath long ago
Joining with the foolish and brave.
Disguised as enemies foul and haggard
Espied by the dark servant in his tower.
    Love languishes in prisons
But runs free from her bower.

Betrayed by the king's kin she flees
    Faithful hound bearing her.
    He slays mighty werewolves
Putting fang and claw to fur!
    Dark mind tortures king's men
And slays them one by one,
    But love topples his fortress
    And breaks every stone.

    A quest filled with tears
    Made of darkness and light:
    Long will the blood run
    Into the deeper night!

Reunited again, but parting once more:
The hero will not take his love to the fray.
The hound grants them strength to open the door
And walk through the darkest of days.
At the doorstep of the iron hill
The Red Maw wolf leering at them
But a maiden with her indomitable will
Sends him to a dream; they enter the den.

    Approaching the iron throne
The dark lord is dazzled by nightingale’s fire!
Uneasy sleep grips his demonic horde
A jewel from his crown is acquired.
    The great werewolf bars the hero's way;
He consumes the jewel within his hand.
Its holy power drives him fey,
And evil descends upon the land.

Return with the jewel in hand
And receive the lord's pity and love.
    A hunt finds the werewolf;
Faithful hound sees his time is come.
A song to the gods moves her love back to life.
    Relinquishing immortality
In favor of being his wife:
    Hands joined for eternity.

The power of song in a nightingale's cry
Brings cities and castles to ruin.
Her likeness is heard only in forest song
And seen in the summer moon.

You know your poetry is good when all you have to do is read the title and know it will be a good one.

So, I know I've been inactive recently, but I have an excuse. I've been sitting up in a log cabin, miles from civilization, with no Wifi or other connections. It's been quiet. Anyway, here's a short poem I wrote a couple days ago. Expect other poems when I get back home (in three or four days).

    Title: Motion

    Poem:

All the colorless words pave the street
    Building a path to remain.
It’s a guide for feeling complete
    Without knowing another name.
If you hate, you have time to love.
And you always have time to begin.
If your desire is a caged dove,
You can sing sweetly from within.
If you know the best of me,
    I hope you will recognize
    Your face remains a mystery.
    I’ve never seen your eyes.

What does it mean to you
If we have never once met?
What if I mentioned the color blue
Fills an empty sky of regret?
Maybe you would call out my boast
    Among the secrets and lies
And then you’d hold me close
And let that be our chorus and reprise.
It’s all just speculation at the cause
Because I feel that I’m set,
But what gives me pause is
Maybe, I don’t know you yet.
