How many times has this happen to you fellow writers? you like writing you wanna start on a new story or Finnish your old one, you have so many ideas but for whatever reason you just cant mentally get yourself to write down so much as a word to start the story. Well im in that funk, i enjoyed writing almost as much as a video game when i wrote my first fanfic, its the perfect way to get a story out there and have other people give there own opinions on it. Now im trying to get out of this funk i put myself in due to my low self esteem when it comes to my grammar and spelling..... and also pure laziness, the way im gonna do this, is with, you guessed it, a fanfic. Now i like to experiment with my fanfics, if this would work in writing or just plane stink, so im making this fanfic a two or three man job now i say this because everyone who works on this fanfic has there own main character that they have complete control over within reason and have a say over how the story would progress. I dont wanna delve to much into the story cause with more then one person working on it, it can get changed in a snap. so here's a short version, in the first chapter a group of unlikely friends who cant make rent on there apartment, are taking to the world of Equastria during the royle weeding, but something is wrong everything is human shaped, the changelings have won and the mane six are no were to be found and so its up to these friends to somehow get along and stop the changelings and make things the way they were meant to.
Spell checker. Your grammar will expand over time, so don't be worried about making a ton of misspellings in your rough draft. You should always proofread and edit your work separately. It might even be worth doing a second proofread to see if everything is to your liking. No matter how good of a writer you are, you will always have mistakes. My personal process for a new chapter is: Rough Draft (with ideas below where I write so I don't forget) --> Proofread/Edit. If you have a new idea and nothing to go with it yet, jot it down and play with it until something comes to mind and inspires you to build it up. There's times where I just begin writing, or only write a few lines, then come back later and build entirely off of that nothingness. I'll come up with an idea, but don't feel like writing a scene, and add them onto the end of my current WIP chapter.
This idea reminds me of the movie "they live". Guy puts on glasses and sees certain people as aliens. This idea could work here.
Thanks for tip, i.ll certainly use them in the times to come. LyonKS555@ the hopes of this fanfic experiment is to see how it would work if one person has control over a main char and by this i mean over there back story (nothing dramatic) there personality, and even how they respond to what other char's say. in short the story can completely change in terms of what is going on and how these main charaters respond with each other so that readers might read a part of the story that they would not expect, assuming i can find someone who would be interested in such a project. would also like to note that its not just the changelings they deal with, hoping to work into other fanfics like the rainbow factory or the dreaded cupcakes
It sounds like your story is going from comedy to normal-dark. Also, if you don't use MS Word like I do, you can type up everything on Google Docs, and then enable access to it for specific people to edit/add on to. It has most of the basic features you'd use (though the inability to remove the gap between pages drives me crazy, personally). It also autosaves constantly.
i do use MS word from time to time and did wonder about using google docs but thought it was just a MS copy, might give it a try next time. But yeah with this im going with both the darkness that people like with there mlp fanfics, and the cute world that we all came to love, i wont spoil to much but the characters will be regularly switching between being ponies and human, when there ponies everything's like what you would expect in the show and the main characters are forced to deal with it, but when everything goes human, all bets are off, there's gonna be cursing and allot of dark themed problems that need to be fixed, so its rated Teen. And the comedy itself will just come fluidly out of the characters personality, such as this one scene i thought up were the character that i control, is about to get in a deadly battle with the changeling queen and right before the fight my character trys to make a dramatic speech but ends up talking about how good looking the queen is and ends up loosing his train of thought. so the comedy will still be there, but it wont be in your face like other fanfics i did, plus the comedy might not be there at all for some characters depending on if the person in charge of the character wants him/her to be all seriousness
