A little project I've decided to do, a musical realization of the rise and fall of Nightmare moon in the form of a short metal album. I'm going to try and do this as seriously as I can, though I'm not good enough at actual guitar to play the pieces in time so It'll have to be with virtual guitar. So far I've gotten started on 2 tracks, I'm planning on having 4 or 5. Planned track listing: 1: Beginning of the Nightmare 2: In Endless Torment [Luna's Imprisonment] 3: Conversion 4: Wraith of Nightmare Moon 5: March on the Tyrant 6: Final Showdown Of course this is extremely subject to change. So far I've started working on 2 pieces: -In endless torment: http://www.box.net/shared/80i1iqqp3n --new wip: http://www.box.net/shared/18hquxt9xc -Wraith of nightmare moon: http://www.box.net/shared/57mfr5gj4k I'm open to working with others on this, and actually I'd prefer to have some help working on it so if you want to work together on any part of it I'm definitely open to it. Some things I'm going to need/would like to collab with: -Lyrics writing: I'm going to try writing lyrics to my pieces, but If anyone else can come up with some lyrics to a piece I'm open to possibly using them. -Singing: Yeah, I don't count myself as the best singer, I'm going to try, but I'd like to get some other people in there, hopefully who know what they're doing better. Also I may be in need of some female vocals. -Composing: I'd like to compose at least one of the pieces collaboratively with someone else If anyone here is a good guitarist that can record themselves with good audio quality, I LOVE YOU (please help me by doing a few solos or something) Other stuff I'm going to need some album art for this, but unlike earlier pieces I'd like to get some completely originally drawn pieces for it - if anyone's a good artist who'd be willing to do up some epic Luna album art I'd love to use it, I'd like to have a few alternate covers so the more the merrier.
I started work on a tech/melodeath album about Luna a long time ago, but I stopped work on it. Also Wrath of NightMare Moon is pretty freaking bad ass o:
Cool, why'd you stop working on it? You have any samples you'd be willing to share? Added a new wip of In Endless Torment up there, along with finishing the full post
Oatmeal, we 2 do the lyrics... Duane and BrandO style! Yeah, this definitely is something to look forward to; it's no "fansong" anymore. More or less a real composition that'll (I hope) last at least 10 minutes. ...About the singing, you thought about a certain style for every single one of them or just simply Rock/Pop/whatever? Because for rock/rap, I might have time to record my voice singing.
AHHHHHHHH YYYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! Duane and BrandO styO. Hmm... but it WILL be a challenge. They had a whole story to work with. And what we have is the first five minutes of episode 1 and some jokes. Actually... I think we have a lot to work with. And we need to stretch it amongst 6 songs. I think we can do it. Yep. And if you want this to be really serious, I'll also be a consultant on anything you want me to be. I'll go full critic.
The metal riffs all seemed to turn out generic and it became more melodic than metal. The melodic parts are barely decent themselves. I just can't write about ponies I guess. http://www.box.net/files/0/f/88268664/1/f_758057182#/files/0/f/88268664/1/f_758065414 http://www.box.net/files/0/f/88268664/1/f_758057182#/files/0/f/88268664/1/f_758064726 Also I could record some of the riffs for you probably, as long as we're not talking Fastkill mega tech death super-sweep arpeggio wank.
You need to click "share link" and share that to link to Box @Everyone Any help is appreciated, I seem to have particular trouble when it comes to writing lyrics so anyone who can help with that is appreciated - just remember that it is supposed to be serious, and on top of that metal so don't feel you need to censure it or anything. @Accel Some actual guitar would definitely be appreciated, especially on solo work if your good at that sort of thing (I can fudge the rhythm guitars and still come up with something presentable, but guitar solos are hard to come up with something good with virtual guitars).
It actually isn't that much easier to write solos on real guitar. xD But yeah I wouldn't mind throwing some solos around for you.
Well yeah writing no, but that's definitely where you can hear the difference very clearly between a guitar and a virtual guitar, you can just hear all the little expressions and nuances of actual playing, thanks a lot. Btw, no one can access those links you posted - you need to get the shared links
Meh, I'll just put them on Mediafire, I wanted to try that site, but it's kind of tedious. Here they are: http://www.mediafire.com/?yoms46d3ych6wfd http://www.mediafire.com/?dy33grgz82x5qz4
It's really convenient imo, it has a built in player (so people don't have to download then play), you can organize into folders, etc. etc. It's just one click to get a link, so if you can survive that you're fine I'll have to listen later, I've got to go soon
Hmm, I could do lyrics Breaking Benjamin style, I really have that color of a voice for that. I can rap, sing rock, whatever. Don't expect me to do extreme roars :3
If it's serious lyrics you want instead, I can help in that department as well. And YOU CAN be... For just 100 easy payments of $9.95. Here at Oatmeals R' Us, we have an easy 394 step program that is almost guaranteed to make you a better composer.
It's 100 payments of $19.95, Oatmeal. Don't lie to these people. And I paid that kind of money, I got Nexus out of it.
Actually, no. I might have not gained any knowledge, but I got one hell of a VST plugin! (Honestly, all my songs are made with it)
I really like LU - actually it'd be cool to include it in the album as like a bonus track or something if you want to work together on doing up a non-midi version sometime Personally I prefer more melodic metal anyways, what you wrote was great. Btw, I'm guessing you use guitar pro? Started writing Luna's Conversion: http://www.box.net/shared/8ago3usr12 (just midi atm) If you're wondering why it's not very metal in sound, I'm planning on starting it more mysterious in sound and then building up to something more menacing - taking a lot of influence from Tool on this one.
